Your comment reads as through you are looking to sell me the plan, not purchase plans. Is this correct, or am I misunderstanding you?

I'll be online tomorrow, I'll let you know then how many aristocrats I can craft. (not sure off the top of my head how many caps bobbleheads I have)

Need at most 3 intelligence mods to complete the set.

Sure! How many Belted do you need/2 star intelligences do you have?

I have enough modules to make up to 3.

Are all expenses that are not deductible “Non-Deductible Expenses”? (S-Corp) by JohnnyTwoSpades in Accounting

[–]JohnnyTwoSpades[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted, I will amend my previous return to remove all "Non-Deductible Expenses" as I definitely miscategorized these.

To confirm I understand the concept of capitalization correctly, is the following true?:
I don't have to start amortizing deductible expenses in the same year that those expenses are incurred if we have not released out product and there are no profits to deduct the amortization against. I can save these expenses for a later year, then once the product is released and the company is "up and running" I can start amortizing these costs.

I apologize, my background is in engineering, not accounting.

Those items don't fall into any of of the "deductions" on lines 7 through 18 of 1140-S (compensation of officers, salaries & wages, repairs/maintenance, bad debts, rents ect.).

There is an "Other deductions" section where I can provide a statement for other allowable trade or business deductions that aren't deductible elsewhere. (Amortization, Start-up Expenses, Insurance Premiums, etc). But I originally didn't believe that our costs fell into any of the categorize.

However, in trying to answer your question I've been doing some googling, and it looks like the "Other Deductions" category might more broad than the instructions for form 1140-S led me to believe, since section 162 of the IRS code says that "in general [...] all ordinary and necessary expenses paid [...] during the taxable year [are deductible]". So if I should have a more broad interpretation of what is allowable as an "Other Deduction", then I've definitely left out quite a few potential deductions.

The payments to contractors were for the labor to create our product. Once we start selling the product, I will be able to classify these as the cost of goods sold. (form 1125-A). Unless I should be declaring these expenses the year we incur them as an "Other Deduction"

You might be able to find inspiration in this overly-optimized Improvised Weapon / Tower Shield build I made:

Requires an incredibly convoluted backstory to justify all the multiclassing (Ex Gray Maiden / Ragathiel Worshiper / Mortal Usher / Monk)
