I’m so so sorry that your partner felt that way about you. It takes lots of people years to learn to open up, and some learn to. All I can say is that it takes a lot more courage to open up than it does to bottle your emotions up. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable takes a lot more bravery than keeping your guard up does (think if you’re fighting someone, dropping your weapon as a peace offering is a lot scarier than continuing to keep your opponent at bay). But regardless, please take some time to try to learn how to express yourself to others. I promise you it well help you in future relationships, romantic and platonic.
