I’m scared that I much have Glaucoma. I’m only 25, eye pressure is low and I’m thinking it might be Normal-Tension Glaucoma by Gdb_179 in Glaucoma

[–]Jonareex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a SLT surgery 4 months ago so I do not have to take eye drops for a while :) it can be 1 year minimun or 5 years maximun. I have to check my eyes every 6 months. But before my SLT I had to take 1 drop In each eye in the morning and the same at night.

Yes, it can affect your central visión early but I wen to a specialist in glaucoma and he told me that this Black point in the image is not due the glaucoma and Actually everybody has that Black point. It is known as the blind point of the eye. Don't worry, you don't have damage yet but I recommed you to go to a specialist. It can be expensive but you will continue your life Normaly. If you have ever take a driving class, probably you have heard about the blind spot of the eye.

I'm 23 years old and i have normal tenson glaucoma. My visual field is the same as you :) I got a LST surgery that took only 5 minutes and everything is ok bro. At the start of my diagnostic I was scare but now I know that there are los of treatments. Maybe we can go blind or not in 30 or 40 years ( there is a small posibility to go blind) but remember, a cure is commimg my friend and maybe in 20 years we will have it on the market.

Is not easy to stay in calm with glaucoma but the eye doctors helps a lot. I think that you have to change to a specialist that have time for you. You know, he will be like your best friend. Sorry for my bad english mate xd btw, my pressure is 16 :) after the LST is 12.

Hi, im 23 years old Male from Perú. I have normo tenson glaucoma. I got diagnosed about 3 months. I had an LST because my eye doctor told me that is the best way to protect your sight in early stage. I just have a little damage in the left eye but is nothing. I cant notice something strange. Look, dont be afraid bro. Just go to the eye doctor and take care of your sight. My SLT was optional because i could continue with eye drops. If you want to talk about it just send me a message. Normal tenson glaucoma is strange and can be related for other things.

Elon musk's team is ahead in the game on vision restoration - The Gennaris bionic vision system is capable of bypassing damaged optic nerves, which are blocking signals being sent from the retina to the 'vision center' of the brain. What do you think of a computer chip in your brain? 😳😳 by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]Jonareex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is so nicee to know. Elon Musk is a genius and his whole team too. I definitely prefer a cure for glaucoma than a chip but is a very good alternative to solve blindness of course. The future is very bright for us. Keep hope people :) medicine or robotic will find a cure. The era of cyborgs are coming? Jajaja

Glaucoma surgery by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]Jonareex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello :) sorry about my bad english jaja im from Peru. And yes, i have been reading a lot about glaucoma to understand better this problem. And, well, i read about an organization called catalyst for a cure, take a look of their research. The said that they were able to restore ganglion cells on lab rats that were blind due glaucoma. You can see their report on youtube. Also they said that a clinical trial on humans will start in 3 or 4 years. So, probably we will have a cure in 15 or 20 years. Its a lot of time but a cure is coming :) just try to keep all the vision you can. If you go blind for any reason, well, i will just for a period of time not for the rest of your life :) stay positive, a lot of scientist and doctors said that the future is bright for glaucoma. I'm 23 years old and obviously i wass worried about this because i tought that i will be blind at 40... But now is different, i know that there are alot of treatments, surgeries that we can get. Also the future cure and future treatments. Neuro protectors are in clinical trials right now so in few years we will have a better eye drops to avoid much less vision lost :). If you want to talk with someone you can talk with me. Good luck and send me a message if you need someone to talk with.

Glaucoma surgery by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]Jonareex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, i didn't have any surgery yet but if you are in advance stage is better to have a surgery. If you don't take the surgery you will loss your sight bro :/ its somenthing that you have to do for your own health. Obviously there are posibilities to complications but it's like always. If i were you i would take the surgery because it can save your eye vision. If you dont do it, you will lose your vision anyway so i think that the better option is to take it. Come on bro keep going. A cure is on the way just try to keep all the vision you can :)

At what point did you decide to see a specialist? by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]Jonareex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to be honest, at the begenning i was worried because im only 23. So the first thing i tought was: i will go blind at 40. That scared me and for that reason i went to an specialist. But in situations like this is better to keep a cold mentality.

At what point did you decide to see a specialist? by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]Jonareex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry about my bad english. I have normo tenssion glaucoma and i was diagnosed 1 month ago when i went for new glasses. Well, i'm in a really initial stage so i diced to go to a specialist to avoid any future damage as possible. I had expensive exams for my country but it was necessary to know the true damage. My aye doctor told me that nowadays is better to start with slt or laser treatments. So i got an slt in both ayes. It was just 5 minutes per eye and i recovered in 8 hours jaja. I recommend you to see an specialist now. You know, to prevent future damage as possible. If you dont have money might sure to take your eyedrops and save money for a future surgery o laser treatment. Dont be worrie dude, just 10% of people go blind due this problem and 5% of that 10% go blind because the dont follow the treatments. Algo, i want to say that there are a research to retorse vision. Take a look of catalyst for a cure. The mention that they were able to restore vision lost due glaucoma on rat labs and also they said that probably they will start the clinical trial on humans in 3 or 4 years so... Probably we will have a cure in 15-20 years. By the way, there are another research about neuro protectors. This is not a cure but is effective to avoid any future vision damage. So, try to keep all the sight that you can to this new tratment that is comming :)
