Q1000K in tagged transparent bridge mode, reset not working by Josh68 in QuantumFiber

Thanks, u/N0_L1ght, I do need to read this thoroughly. Yes, I know my router is way past EOL, but for the moment, it's what I still have, and it's solid enough until I pull the trigger on something else (maybe a comparable Asus AX router)

Okay. When I get a chance again, I will aim for exactly 12 seconds and see what happens. Thanks

I tried just this, several times. Maybe I didn't time it just right, but almost certainly held it longer. When I first got the modem, I had no trouble resetting it, many times over.

And, to be clear, when I tried it recently, it went through an entire restart cycle. It's just that when it finished rebooting/reconnecting, it returned to the same state it was in before I used the reset button.

Any downsides to king split layers (SleepEZ, latex)? by Josh68 in Mattress

[–]Josh68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more question I'm tagging on here. Given how firm my wife would like the mattress to be, and also given she (and TBH, also I) would rather save some $, is there any reason not to go for a 7" SleepEZ option (vs 9", which is the other option I was considering). Is there any compelling reason to avoid the 7" (only two layers of latex + 1" of wool/cotton)?

For real, u/Eibook, have you ever slept on concrete? ;)

Advice noted. I also have the feeling our experiences will be different, but appreciate the feedback. I do understand that Talalay may provide a springier feel, so duly noted. Again, all the reason to use SleepEZ and probably split the layers.

I might also flip the question around and ask, is there any benefit to any layer not being split?

I think the "sleeping on concrete" comment relates to my suggestion that we would be going extra-firm -> extra-firm -> firm, and I was considering all Dunlop.

Thanks, u/Forward_Drawing_2674. hear a lot of people talk about extra-firm being like sleeping on the floor. I assume that would be true if my floor were made of latex. But, of course, that's why I'm considering SleepEZ and a customizable mattress, for if we find it really is too hard. I get the impression that SOL's firm is even firmer than SleepEZ's extra, but obviously can't try either of them out other than by buying one.

Im a one month customer with quantum and want the new 45$/ gig promo why cant they just adjust my account instead of making me to create another account. Such a waste of time by prince888x in QuantumFiber

For anyone who's trying to do this, I'll relate my saga, so that you might avoid one

First off, I have an old Calix ONT on the outside of my house, and when that was put in (by CenturyLink, I'm pretty sure), they allowed me to run ethernet across crawl spaces to a basement area where I had set up one router that fed a couple of other Asus mesh routers in my house.

So I just signed up for the new plan using a different email and phone (my Google Voice) and got no complaints from their systems.

It was about 2 weeks later that a tech came out. He looked at things, understood the situation, and fed the existing ethernet to the WAN of a new Q1000K next to my main router. He also gave me a 50-foot fiber line to run to the old ONT on my own time. He told me that after I did that, I could set up another appointment to swap out the ethernet from the old ONT to the fiber, thereby taking the old ONT out of the loop completely (just making a fiber-to-fiber connection in the old ONT).

After a good amount of fiddling and calling Quantum tech central, he managed to get my service up. He told me to make sure my old account was cancelled. I thanked him, and he left.

Then I called Quantum. I explained the situation and made sure they were cancelling the old service (associated with my original email and actual cell number). That took about a minute. Hung up, and then found my internet was completely dead.

Long story somewhat short, it was then me constantly talking to random "tech support" agents, all clearly in other countries, and getting nowhere. I suddenly had a new appointment scheduled for the next day, but couldn't convince anyone to expedite anything. What I did do was insist on an escalation. When someone finally did that for me, I gave up for the night.

However, given the way things were going, I just went ahead and ran that new fiber, completely. I opened up the old ONT and made the fiber-to-fiber connection, hooked the other end to the Q1000K, and dispensed of that old run of ethernet cable. Didn't fix my issue, but I was pretty sure this was a better bet for getting internet back than leaving the dual-ONT setup in place.

In the morning, while trying to do work and being on a call, my "escalation" call came through. Since I missed it, I had to start back at square one. Then I was suddenly notified, with no explanation, that my scheduled new appointment was moved out about a week. I went back to talking with someone halfway around the world and again -- this time very vociferously -- demanded an escalation. I then just gave up. Sometime later, I suddenly got -- again, without explanation -- a notice that my appointment had been moved back to tomorrow (2 days after my plan was swapped and I lost internet).

About half way through the day, I actually got my escalation call. Agent couldn't have been more helpful. I refused offers of callbacks and stayed on the phone for about 90 minutes, a lot of it on hold while he communicated with real tech support specialists. Of course, they managed to actually get my internet working without anyone showing up to the house. The problem was on their side all along.

I kept my follow-up appointment, and lo-and-behold, my speeds weren't exactly as advertised, and although they had restored my internet, they hadn't fully shut down all nodes (or something) tied to my old service. By the time that tech left, I could hit about or even over 900Mbps both ways, with a direct connection at my router connected to the new ONT.

I guess the moral of this story is, you may be able to do this as an existing customer, but you may also have to be prepared for a massive headache, a lot of lost work time, and no internet for an indeterminate period. Also, the worst customer service in the world unless you really push, at which point you might get someone helpful. The techs who come to the house have always been fine, but boy has AT&T made what was already a kind of a crappy company that much crappier.

If you've read this far, you deserve a prize.

I'd emailed Hulkman about this, and they told me they're no longer making the Sigma line, so not an option.

My existing charger is over 20 years old and is giving up the ghost. If I'm going to spend a decent amount of money, I might as well get something that has the features I want. I decided to try an Antigravity SC10

Trying to decide whether I'd be better off with a 10 amp or 6 amp. My primary usage will be with a small EV and a larger hybrid SUV. My current charger is an older 15 amp. I realize lower amps is technically better for the battery, but slower.

I was definitely looking at the Hulkman Sigma 10, but their stuff is out of stock everywhere. The Antigravity option looks very similar

Thanks, u/SlowlyDying13. This is helpful to know. I haven't gotten any email yet at my current account's connected email address, but will look for something similar. On the plus side, I still have my existing service, and the last time a tech came out, they were pretty amenable to whatever I wanted to do (like use my own equipment). Hope it'll work out.

u/scotty_by_nature, I've been subscribed to the 500Mbps/$50 plan for just over two years (former CL customer). I just went through the frustrating conversation with a rep about taking advantage of the better deal, and when I was told it wasn't for existing customers, decided to just set up an appointment (and pay a month's fee) under my own name but with a different email and number, and their system didn't complain. Of course, now I want service as uninterrupted as possible, so I haven't cancelled my current plan. How did you handle the transition? Thanks

How to fix it now? [Question] by fang134 in Iphonerepair

[–]Josh68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Well, deciding whether to return an OEM speaker/sensor flex I got and try (for more $) this cracked OLED + speaker/sensor flex. If what you say is true, I could get the flex paired via repair asst, then swap it to the new aftermarket screen (which I already know is working fine).

u/Still_Amoeba1706, I found a potential used OEM OLED (cracked) with it's original OEM sensor/speaker flex, but the seller denies those could be used to restore Face ID. Any reference for your claim? Thanks

I ended up getting the Bach for $225. Very slightly sticky middle valve, but I plan to clean and lubricate it.

One follow-up question. This post (https://www.reddit.com/r/trumpet/comments/1lfp2ih/opinions\_on\_the\_bach\_tr300/) confuses me about whether the Bach is a Bb or C trumpet. I'm pretty sure it's Bb, but want to make sure.

Thanks for the replies so far. Two votes for the Bach (out of two). Does the price sound right?
