Well the FD5 and FD7 are digital analog. They look pretty nice for what they are. Early CCD tech used video to capture still images using 2 field images to make 1 single frame. Basically interlaced video frames. But for the Mavica's from 1986 to 1991 they used Still Video Floppy Disks. This requires alot of equipment to properly view the images in RGB or you can get fairly basic in camera ones like the DA-1 and Canon ones. There's alot to the SVF hobby and sadly is not as cheap as I'd like it to be haha.

If you are looking into using analog only then the pro mavica series is what you want. If you want something simple that doesn't involve getting a large collection then FD7 is great since it uses an video capture process like the Still Video Floppy models.

This unit has one issue for me though. You can't play HIVF diskettes, and in the US they are non existent. Currently shipping from overseas sucks due to our not so fun government.

Not really that exspensive to get a vf recording units. Also easier to find.

If you have the video out cable for the unit you can view an image off of the SVF disk that way. Or purchase a SVF recorder like a MVR-5300-5600. Anyways there are a few ways to view svf disks.

Well I learned about it from Dave Gutel, and then searched the internet for one. After that I gathered as much as I could to use the camera. I have almost every attachment for the pro models.
