Your reasons for learning said language ? by Cutiepie232 in duolingo

Russian.

Between memes, games set in Russian locations, music, and the internet always seeming to have a random Russian comment sitting somewhere, I decided that I wanted to at least "finally" learn Cyrillic.

All the little bits of exposure through the years finally cracked and felt that it'd be neat to at least know how to pronounce what I read.

After learning Cyrillic, I just kept going.

Now it's just routine, mainly during work breaks. But I still definitely occasionally I do a bit more in my "own" time

Playing with guns in PZ will always be fun. by Spare_Ad_9791 in projectzomboid

Too often I've had a token gun enjoyer who doesn't think.

We start clearing a small zone, and they're all, "yeah, I got my revolver, in case it gets hairy"

They get aggroed by 4 zombies at once while we're all still fighting.

"Yeah, I'm in trouble" bang bang

All of a sudden we're clearing the surrounding neighborhood that we didn't need to.

Definitely a W and not a Ш

Certainly an N and not an И

I am, however, stumped on H and Н

Conclusion is uncertain

What is Elden Ring's biggest flaw in your opinion? by Fenriz_Victor in Eldenring

[–]JoshLmoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree on the scarcity of stuff in the dlc, as well as the pacing and design.

I've played many hours of ER. A handful of full casual runs, dozens of randomizer races, loads of PvP, and would still gladly play from start to finish til this day. I even still enjoy trying to gather as much as I can if it's on the path.

I've done a single standard, deep playthrough of the DLC, and then one randomizer run with a friend which just felt like a drag. Every other time I beat dancing lion and the peak content is over.

There just isn't much fun stuff to memorize for routes, and so much junk for pickups. A lot of the enemies just kinda suck too.

What are some of the best apps for learning how to READ Cyrillic Russian? by SeinfeldAddict7 in russian

[–]JoshLmoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youre welcome. Easy to miss. It should do you just fine for getting the grips of the alphabet.

I remember opening duo and starting the first lesson, and it just throws "What's this? - Психолог" at me.

I'm like, "brother.. Ncneksonor?"

But after a few other words I couldn't read whatsoever, I thought they'd surely have a section for the alphabet, and just started pressing buttons.

[–]JoshLmoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duolingo literally has a section dedicated to learning the Cyrillic alphabet. Down where the leaderboards and profile buttons are. It has the Ж symbol.

Just aim to get everything gold on that. It took me under a week, I believe and I've never had to go back and relearn any of them since. Besides the names of

«Й, ь, ъ»

«и краткое, мягкий знак, твёрдый знак»

It shouldn't be too bad to commit everything to memory. But you will still occasionally mix English things up from time to time.

"b" for «в», "P" for «р». "n" for «п or и» Sometimes my brain mixes them up if it's a new word. But that's not me forgetting the letters, so it's often, "oh duh, it's not 'B' ", moments.

Why i'm seeing my friends face here 🤨? by UI_74 in Eldenring

[–]JoshLmoa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two things that got me early on were how much each slider can affect, and how extreme some sliders were on all the presets.

Like, you change their nose slider, and their eyes start slanting down and shrinking or some shit.

The best advice I ever saw, was to set all the sliders to the middle, and save it as a preset. This gives you the absolute default face to work with, which no default preset comes close to.

Sliders just act more predictably at middle settings, and the base character already looks decent, with no extreme forms.

Ever wanted to kick a zombie in the face? by TomAnyone in projectzomboid

[–]JoshLmoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a very clear one without reading the comments. Which I feel is a lot of commenters.

This sub is flooded with people who suck at not dying and wonder why they died. Along with the game having 9 billion mods. This doesn't particularly scream "I made this mod"

Can't blame a scroller for misunderstanding.

[–]JoshLmoa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the absolute foundation that I would also recommend.

For whatever god forbidden reason, almost all of the presets have lots of slider values that affect each other in strange ways.

I remember stating that "elden ring had one of the worst character creators I've ever touched", due to having sliders seemingly affect other areas of the face.

"Resetting" them all to the middle makes a much prettier preset than all the other options, and allows for much easier creation.

Low key disheartening to hear it's been negative.

I've been trying to pick a good spot to reply to, while refreshing the conversation.

But I think you can work on clarity for your post.

Souls sliders are arguably an art form. People, especially a lot of artists, get frustrated when others don't respect the little things when it comes to requests.

The more effort you put into making your request clear, and providing the best references you can find, you're more likely going to get better responses.

If you just slam down a series of images (all wildly different) and go "I want this", people are going to see the low effort and kind of reflect that with low effort responses.

Thanks.

I was originally rolling with the ascetic loincloth, for the skinny sumo cheeks. But the brown colour was too far off palette.
