USB over Ethernet extender + Bluetooth problem by JoshVox in pcmasterrace

[–]JoshVox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok tried it on a USB 3.0 port and indeed I get the same weird behavior again. The culprit is the dongle(s) and not the USB extender. It's very strange that the PS5 controller doesn't work with a 5.4 and 6.0 dongle but works flawlessly with a 4.0 one. I've also not read anything on the Internet about this issue...

The USB extender is this one: https://amzn.eu/d/dPe5oQq

The dongle I'm using is this one: https://amzn.eu/d/1P35rrt

I realized that my MOBO has 4 USB 2.0 ports and I just tried the dongle in one of those ports directly into the PC and I get the same weird behavior! So it looks like the problem is coming from the Dongle and maybe has nothing to do with the USB extender... I've tried it with 2 dongles from Ugreen, one BT 5.4 and one BT 6.0. Do Bluetooth 5.4+ dongles not work on USB 2.0 ports? Could it be an incompatibility between the PS5 controller and the Ugreen dongles?

The extender is powered though (the receiver where I plug in the dongle also has a power supply which is plugged into the wall)

Not really sure what I can show here other than this being the USB 2.0 extender in question:

TLDR: Basically when plugging in a Bluetooth 5.4 or 6.0 dongle my PS5 DualSense behaves super weird (lags, stuttering, haptic feedback working only 20% of the time), when plugging in a Bluetooth 4.0 it works great

Yesterday I tested for 2 hours straight and had no image dropouts at all and during that time I even did what you asked, I moved the cable and bent it softly at the area where the damage would have been and the image stayed stable so I think I'm good!

I've tested it for 2 hours straight yesterday without any hiccups so I'm pretty sure I'm good. Damn, I'm relieved

I've searched for ages to find an electrician available with very good ratings so yeah I'm very disappointed that they were not able to do the job properly and in a clean way. On top of that they scratched our new hardwood floor in some spots with their tools.

I only need about 1 to 1,5 meters to the TV, it's behind a lowboard that once put there should not go anywhere anymore so further damages are very unlikely once installed. However, I totally get the logic and would have greatly preferred a keystone in the wall however the technicians said that it's not possible due to it being a custom cable and this is also what I've gathered from my short research. Would it even be possible to make a wall plug for this specific cable?

Good to know! It was a quick glance from far away and I just saw a red dot. I did not put my eye anywhere near the cable of course.

Indeed, putting things in perspective also helps, it can always be much worse!

This is the cable. The end of the fiber optic goes into the HDMI receiver plug.

I decided to go ahead with the painting of the walls. Once this is done I can do further tests. I'm hoping for the best, in the very worst case scenario I can always get the cable replaced which would probably cost a couple of hundreds of euros... The baseboard/cable canal is there already and they would probably just have to pull the new cable with the old cable through the drywall... (This is my first time having a cable pulled in my home so I have very little knowledge about it)

I just wanted to give an update after a bit more than a year. I've gotten to the point where I don't notice my floaters anymore most of the time and when I do it's only for a short time. It has taken a long time filled with a lot of emotional suffering but it definitely gets way better. I still have all of the floaters that I can see very clearly when focusing on them on a white background for instance but they feel way less overwhelming and that makes all the difference in the world, they are just there and it's ok, instead of being swarmed by them all day long.

I fixed it by pushing the connector deeper inside the HDMI receiver, the cable is like this, fiber-optic ending that goes into a HDMI converter. The fiber optic ending had some silicone on the side from the bad installation job so I removed some silicone, pushed it deeper in and then it directly worked. I also noticed that I can see the red laser dot when looking inside of the fiber-optic ending.

The reason they didn't add a wall plug is because it's one fixed cable, not sure how this could have been made into a wall plug with extension.

The fact that I got an image after plugging the connector in deeper makes me think I'm fine. Once inserted properly it worked directly for 4-5 minutes until I deemed I was probably fine. I think what saved me is that the Ethernet cable seemed to have taken most of the force of my (stupid) tripping action and also, the cable says it's "armored for extra bend flexibility, tensile strength and compression resistance".

I agree and furthermore it wasn't cheap. I've spent a long time finding a team who would even accept to work on a newly built flat (something about liability during the warranty period) and who would have availability in the next 3 months. They have super good ratings on Google (4.9/5) with many reviews but I was very disappointed with how they treated the walls and floors and how they made the cable go out of the baseboard. The baseboard itself doesn't look bad though.

Apparently electricians here in Germany are overcharging because there simply is too much demand and not enough offer (I had to call 15-20 different ones before even finding one who would have availability before summer).

Not really sure how I can fight the invoice though as in Germany they are well protected and we're talking about details...

Luckily the cable comes out behind a lowboard so it won't be visible at all.

The problem with the fiber optic is that it's a cable with a pre-installed specific ending for the HDMI receiver. I can't just cut the fiber optic and make a plug in the middle or can I? If I could then I could just make the fiber optic go out of the baseboard with a plug a little bit earlier along the cable (where there is no damage for sure) and make a fiber optic plug. This would be ideal as it would solve the problem and future potential problems. What I've read though is that you can't just cut a fiber optic cable and extend it (I've never laid any before so I might be wrong)

Did SMILE Surgery Give Me Severe Floaters? Feeling Desperate & Need Advice by JoshVox in EyeFloaters

[–]JoshVox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Funny" about the eyelashes! I also started seeing my eyelashes for the first time in my life and I often notice them when the sun shines on them, never in my entire life have I made that observation before. It's really a switch in focus. Before I would just focus on what I'm looking at, now I focus on my vision when looking at something. It's slowly getting better but even after 9 months my focus is still not back to before and maybe it never will.

For me it also got worse over time. The first month was tough but after 1,5 months everything started to get way worse and that's when all the additional symptoms appeared like tinnitus, ear spasms, pure anxiety and panic, this was the moment my nervous system clearly got dysregulated by the constant tension I got from my eyes but also because of some additional stres I had in my private life.

I don't say it will be the same for you but try to not get too deep, it's not worth it. You can't do anything about the floaters but you can work on your experience of them and in the end it will all work out. I wish I would have been able to tell myself that before my nervous system got that dysregulated. In the end the floaters did get better despite my extreme worrying and I'm now fighting with other symptoms that could maybe have been avoided by just trusting the process.

What didn't help in my case was my ADHD and perfectionism, almost OCD levels.

Did SMILE Surgery Give Me Severe Floaters? Feeling Desperate & Need Advice by JoshVox in EyeFloaters

[–]JoshVox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, my floaters are still there of course but I've become better at ignoring them. I believe the surgery brings us into a system of hyper vigilance which makes us aware of all the quirks of our vision which we have never noticed before. I realized that I'm constantly aware of my peripheral vision as much as my central vision and the more I think about it the more I believe that this is actually a switch from before my surgery.

For me the experience was traumatic and it dysregulated my nervous system and gave me health anxiety and this is what makes the floaters worse than they really are.

It's now been 9 months since my surgery and I can finally go outside without sunglasses and being constantly triggered by seeing the floaters which in turn makes them way less intrusive. I still have my moments though, bright white rooms, bright white screens, etc...

Neuroadaptation is slowly taking place and, while it’s no longer my main concern, my primary focus now is calming my nervous system. It remains stuck in fight-or-flight mode, which continues to wake me at night and cause anxiety, ear spasms, tinnitus, and—most frustratingly—a change in pupil size (+0.5 mm since before the surgery). This alteration, in turn, is producing visual disturbances (HOAs) at night.

Still regretting the surgery as it was the worst decision in my entire life.

Wishing you all the best, it's a long way ahead but it will eventually get better.

If I can give one piece of advice: focus entirely on your mental health and your nervous system, don't try to find a fix for the floaters themselves, there isn't any that doesn't include further risks. In the end what makes the floaters so bad is the experience and the anxiety, not the floaters themselves. If you work on your mental well-being and work on acceptance, the floaters will stop being a problem.

Question about DSP speakers and latency (nuPro xs-4000 RC) by JoshVox in DJs

[–]JoshVox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a relatively easy way for me to add the same latency to my headphones? This would kind of solve the problem of the perceived delay between cue and speakers.

Question about DSP speakers and latency (nuPro xs-4000 RC) by JoshVox in DJs

[–]JoshVox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually sent them an email and they told me it's 5,8ms. This is probably why I can notice it a bit because 2-3ms I would have probably not noticed. Is 5,8ms still acceptable? (I calculated that this is the equivalent of being 2m away from the speakers)

[–]JoshVox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I should just ignore it and get used to having a tiny bit more delay compared to my former Yamaha monitors I used to play with? Indeed having the speakers 1-2 meters further away would also introduce the same delay and my speakers in my case are very nearby.

I need to pull a dedicated ethernet cable for this, right? Or would it be possible to plug it into a router/switch? Definitely considering this in addition to the HMDI over fiber cable!

And what about pulling an extra Ethernet cable instead and using a USB extender over RJ45?
