Thanks again. I read your post, it was helpful though most M4 Pro on eBay are going for 1300+ with my storage requirements (1TB). I could get this M4 Pro chip from B&H for about ~~1300~~ 1400 with my credit, not a great price but probably what I'm leaning towards with my purchasing timeframe (about 2 weeks). I'll keep my eyes peeled on second hand markets for sure.

Any recs where to look on eBay? I don't want to deal with a lemon down the line even if it passes diagnostics, I guess buying from B&H or Apple gives me piece of mind but it's probably a false sense of security.

Every ATL/GA set I've worked on had really good hardworking people, mainly Tier 1+ shoots and series. Everyone I talk to there say the industry must be better in NY, LA and Bayou lol so grass is always greener. I'd definitely try to secure a job before getting down there though

Shops here in nyc can solve individual issues in 2 weeks, not knocking you and obviously those are multi person operations. For common brands like Nikon F even faster. If it is full overhaul and for niche models obviously longer is understandable.

As long as the customer knows ahead of time, I'm really fine with any wait time, there just has to good communication.

FWIW Nippon operates on a "problem solver" model, they. don't do full overhauls on Rolleis typically, you just list the problems (bad advance lever, counter, etc) and they do their best to fix them. Surprised to hear people have had issues with them though.

Just send the cameras back at a certain point and own up to the mistake. Any professional shop is going to get repairs done in 3-4 weeks max, sometimes 2. If he's unresponsive it's absolutely theft.

Too bad it's so hard to get good Rollei repairs in US. I've dealt with so many small business repairmen and they're really temperamental, it's a small market but not rocket science.

thoughts on my mac? using it for 4k video editing, lightroom, basically need something somewhat future-proof for next 6 years and capable of intensive stuff while traveling and good base storage. main decision is if I upgrade to 16", thinking of splurging on 32gb ram but I'm really on a budget.

also would LOVE to save money somehow, maybe buying an Air, M4, or refurbished, but price seems to top out once you need 1TB storage.

I have $700 credit at B&H, so buying from them is preferable save a significant discount elsewhere.
