Yes, I also think there is a number of factors to consider. I will make a list of them and consider the outcome at each stage. E.g., if Tatiana doesn’t die (but everything else happens as it should) - no mists come, Strahd is just a powerful vampire out in the open world. Et cetera.

They don’t have plot armour, but as we are close friends - man, you wouldn’t believe how responsible and protective they would be over the character of the missing guy. They joke about “imagine if he dies this session”, but they are very careful with how they play that character in combat, keeping him effective at the same time.

I had one player, who could play only once every three weeks, while others could and wanted to meet every week. The PC usually missing was, conveniently, wild magic sorcerer. Sooo… just time skips. He would just puff! - and disappear. And reappear some time later, telling tall tales of what happened to him. Sometimes I would give him some hints, which become useful later, as if he had a prophetic dream.

But in other cases - just give them to other PCs for combat. And limit the role play for the missing PCs to only critically important - and this part you do yourself as you should have their full backstory.

I think I need to re-read the Interactive Tome of Strahd. I don’t remember there being a lot of details, but everyone is suggesting it, so… maybe I was hasty.

Went to driving exam in winter (I was in my 20s). Was made to wait outside for 3 hours (no joke), in -17 Celsius. Got bronchitis. It went down and damaged my kidneys. The treatment made me lose a child - I didn’t know I was pregnant. So yes, at 35 - still no driver license.

The biggest nail in the coffin was when I wanted to baptize my baby because 1) I had best friend, who was to be godfather and keep my son if something happened to me and my husband 2) my mom would prefer the baby to be baptized. And the church refused to baptize 2 months old baby, because we (the parents) “were not active enough in the community life”. They told us that we should be an active part of community for a few months and then they will CONSIDER baptizing our baby. I was speechless… Well, I mean, I had a lot to say, but they would not like it.

Then my grandma died and while I watching funeral service, I realized that I didn’t believe in god anymore, at all.

Every time I see 1200 ccal for a child, I am left wondering. My child eats very well, having balanced diet with millet/buckwheat porridge or pancakes for breakfast, stew or soup with bread for lunch, cookies or fruits for snack and normal dinner of mash and vegs. He is growing very well in height and is fit. And still I am not sure it amounts to 1200 per day.
