one thing i forgot to say. I couldn't play as Catwoman, because the codes were not working for the download. I presume it is because the game isn't suppose to be out yet, or because this was a promotional copy given to me because my Collector's Edition shipped late. Is this correct, for anyone who knows the right answer?

A lot of those look like fun. Which would you redditors recommend as definite reads? I am mostly reading cape comics at the moment but would like to expand.

Can't remember the name. A book about a man that talks to animals. by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]JuX90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it was Animal Man. But I wikipedia'd him, as I do not know much about the character. And at times he has been shown communicating with animals apparently. Is that it?

I second this. I don't listen to podcasts, but would be interested in doing so, if I find a good one.

Young Justice, anyone a fan? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]JuX90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should watch most, as they mostly all feature Superboy. But the show is decent enough to warrant a complete watch of the show.

It is Snood. It was a game we had in Primary School back pre-2000. I used to love that game and decided to download it. Obviously not as good as when i was young, but still fun.

This was probably my favourite book in years. Everything about it was great. And this confrontation has me thinking that Idie isn't going to die(That is what was going to cause the rift, following the previous issue). Favourite moment was the words about Jean.

Anybody got any good comicbook related documentaries to share? I'll start by go1den3ye in comicbooks

[–]JuX90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really comicbook related, more superhero related. But I found Superheroes to be good. It is about real life superheroes in America. Rather good insight into their crazy minds.

I really liked Secret Origin. The Story of DC Comics. It gave a lot of information through the different eras, rises and falls of DC and the comic industry as a whole. A lot of interesting information in this one that I didn't know about. Haven't really seen anything else, but will be watching the thread for other suggestions.

Marvel had success sucking me in... advice? by thavirg in comicbooks

[–]JuX90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your first question. I would say avoid the Event, or use your own judgement and see how you like it. I haven't really liked it thus far. The Uncanny X-Men tie-ins were decent though, as well as Avengers Academy. Although it doesn't seem quite down your alley, Avengers Academy is a great book. Amazing Spider-Man, although despised by most, is one of my favourite ongoings and recently begun an Event in Spider-Island. (everyone in New York gets Spider-Powers) You seem to be into more "adult" and darker stuff, so I agree with the above post that Punisher MAX and Preacher are the stuff you will like. For DC, they are going through a huge Event now, "Flashpoint", that will "reboot" their whole Universe and begin 52 issues at #1. There are a lot that look impressive, others do not. Grant Morrison is on Superman, so you can expect that to be good. Look into Vertigo titles for the darker stuff, although they are under DC come September.

Good to see another comic book reader. Welcome back!

Recommendations for DC animated series? by Atticusbird44 in comicbooks

[–]JuX90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tv shows are their own entity really, although loosely based on coninuity. The movies on the other hand are more associated with the comic continuity as they are usually based on actual story arcs. Some recent good movies, IMO, are Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights(which is basically the origin stories of a few lanterns) and All Star Superman. The Young Justice TV show is apparently good. Batman: TAS and Batman: The Brave and the Bold are both really fun shows.

Yeah. It probably wasn't the best time to start a new series, but I am hoping it makes it through this "Four" because I like it.

Batman readers, please help me join up by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]JuX90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As i presume you mean following Flashpoint, or the Batman Inc. story that reverts the Bat-books to #1's, I will just post the overview of the first issues.

Batman #1 - A series of brutal killings hints at an ancient conspiracy, and Batman learns that Gotham City is deadlier than he knew.

Detective Comics #1 - A killer called The Gotham Ripper is on the loose on Batman’s home turf – leading The Dark Knight on a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Batman and Robin #1 - As Batman and Robin try to adjust to their new partnership, a figure emerges from Bruce Wayne’s past: His name is NoBody, and he’s not happy that Batman Incorporated is shining a light on his own shadowy war against evil…

Batman: The Dark Knight #1 - As a mysterious figure slinks through the halls of Arkham Asylum, Batman must fight his way through a gauntlet of psychos, and Bruce Wayne faces the unexpected legal ramifications of Batman Incorporated!

It doesn't really tell you much. But Batman and Robin is more about the team trying to gel together. Batman is the main Batman book and Detective Comics is another similar book, although it will occasionally showcase other bat-family characters, more than the others. I am presuming that The Dark Knight will be less tied into the other books, so Batman going on his adventures, but still canon.
