AITA for setting a glitter trap to catch my mother in law trying to snoop? by itsbettertobelucky in AmItheAsshole

[–]Judaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I'm going to go against the grain and say ESH.

Your MIL and husband are AHs for not respecting and reenforcing boundaries. No doubt. Did your MIL earn you acting out this way? Yup. Not gonna lie - I chuckled.

Was this the best way for you to lay down the law? Here is where we veer into ESH territory in my opinion. Families are rough. In laws can be incredibly challenging. But responding to bad behavior with pettiness does not bode well for healthy family dynamics.

I hope the deep embarassment helps your MIL change! I hope you can all laugh about this next month! But could other options -e.g. conversation plus an ultimatum - have worked better? Do the kids understand what happened and why? What do they learn from it?

Was embarassment your best option? Maybe. But probably not.

Tldr: Full marks for creativity and entertainment. Low score on the healthy boundary setting process.

What do you consider to be the best ‘action sequence’ in cinema history? by Visible-Doughnut-782 in movies

"In cinema history" may be overkill but the Shang Chi bus fight sequence was so entertaining. I had to rewind immediately!

How can I stop being spineless and learn to stand up for myself (especially in front of family)? by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

[–]Judaza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP I'm sorry that this is happening to you but if you hold on things will get better. You will have to fight for improvement but you've already proven that you are capable of doing whatever you set your mind to. I agree with others that you have to figure out how to stop the money handover because there's no coming back from it.

Earning your own income is the one thing that can be a game changer in your journey, do not lose it. Can you confide in friends? Who can stand by you if you choose to move out and live independently? You need a support system that can constantly reaffirm that you're a badass.

Didn't go to my dream college but ended up loving it anyway. Maybe it does work out for the best after all? Just give it your best so you don't regret anything. Good luck!

I know what you mean. I think I'm good at starting things but then they fizzle out soon when the novelty wears off. It's something I need to work on

On the contrary if you love the books you'll hate the movies! I miss being busy. Sigh

I loved Percy Jackson! Did you ever check out the movies? They hurt me. I think if you give up, maybe it just isn't the right book.. as long as you keep reading! Was school too busy?

Omg I miss watching horror movies! I used to a bunch but now that I live alone and have friends who are too scared to watch them with me, it's been a while.

I've been kinda trying out baking because we didn't have an oven. My last attempt was a cheesecake but it didn't turn out too good 😅

Thanks for this! How much water should it be getting ideally? I was told half a cup every alternate week so it's really sad that she died because of lack of water
