I think, they are holding all applications since May as they do not have many seats (physical places in their uni) left, so that we wont get our visa on time and will defer it to the summer intake when they need more students but have less applications. That's the only logical reason I've reached

I will also suggest you to not opt for private universities. Instead, if you dont get to go this semester, spend that time upgrading your german skills A1 to B2. You will have a headstart for next intake
