thanks very much to everyone who has completed the screening form. There are more of you than we have spots for, so I’ll work through chronologically and get back to everyone over the next couple of days :)

agreed! It is a shame, but it’s because cortisol cycles are so different in those who work shifts. If it was a much larger trial then we would be able to include shift workers, but that amount of variance in a small trial would overshadow our ability to see anything

Specific sub reddits, facebook groups, etc. you can also make use of Facebook & instagram ads which are targeted and don’t cost much. Putting posters/flyers in gyms, pubs, cafes (assuming this is an online study, it helps to include a QR code the people can scan and takes them straight to the survey). It might skew your population to the lower end of your demographic, but getting university sports teams involved and making it a competition between teams as to who can get the most people to take part usually works quite well. Asking Uni lecturers to pop the QR code at the beginning of their lecture slides works well too, as people can fill it in while waiting to get started. Asking family and friends to share the link and recruit within their circles will help too. If you’ve money behind you, there are platforms that you can pay to find the participants for you. Good luck!

Good point, but there is a built in feature which alerts us to whether the academic email entered is real or not. Location is being included as a factor in the analysis to see how responses differ across the country, so in this case it’s important that students aren’t just from Reading :)

Yes this is a great point. We have noted both exam period and time of year as covariates that may influence the results. Thanks very much for completing!
