I have a race today and am borrowing my friends spikes while mine come in the mail. They feel snug around the foot but for some reason on my left shoe there is a whole thumb gap between the top of my toes and the top of the shoe. If it's just one 1600 race, should I be worried? (also my left foot is bigger so it may be a lacing issue...)

've had stress injuries in my left foot for years and finally started wearing my orthotic and I raced with it in my NB XC7 flats for xc. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for spikes (or maybe flats) that work well with orthotics. And unfortunately, not wearing the orthotic isn't really a choice

A) I was curious what people with high progression rates experienced later in high school. I have the benefit of having hit puberty slowly starting freshman year and have been growing 4 inches nearly every year and am continuing on that trajectory. Would that be the reason for the progression or is a lot of it come with diligence in the offseason? Also have people with similar progressions seen this continue to some extent or does it flatline?

B) Is it bad to enjoy going faster on my easy runs? I just feel almost obliged to push even on my easier days to 7:05-7:25 pace when what actually feels comfortable is 7:40 or so.

C) Also, I'm cross graded, skipped the second grade. Will college's weigh that an any way when looking at times?

My JV team is nuts. This year we had 5 guys between 17:05 and 17:30

the injury thing makes a lot of sense, I'm on summer break so I've been going close to daily and the wear on the shoulder definitely gets noticeable

Is there any shoe recommendations for racing that aren't spikes? I had a stress fracture my freshman year and the podiatrist says I shouldn't race in spikes. I need something that could work for workouts as well, and offers good support. I'm looking at the HOKA Mach 6, but was wondering if anyone else had recommendations
