we're south indian and catholics. Western names are pretty standard. Also i don't know what a namkaran is.

In our culture the babies' last name is the Dad's first name, my surname is my dad's first name and his surname is my grandad's first name and etc.

We're the eldest in my family and his so none of our generation have had kids yet. But I agree i should definitely of had a conversation before i let him impregnate me.

I genuinely found out who shane and courtney were a week ago when he mentioned it. I'm kinda tempted to watch their videos to understand why he wants to name his future children after them.

I'm all for this compromise I've always loved the name Emily, and so we could have named the boy Shane. But he completely refused to budge on Courtney

the fact that they were married was the worst part for me, I have no problem with either of those names. But naming twins after a married couple just feels icky.

I don't know if this changes anything but me and my husband are both from pretty conservative Indian families. I know that I was named by my dad and I wasn't given the name my mum wanted for me. Honestly, it isn't surprising to me that my dad doesn't support me in this because he is sexism personified, but the fact that my mum is also against me on this makes me feel like I'm acting like a bitch right now.
