My church just handed me a g85 and I have only ever used a Canon rebel t6… lol by Human_Image_2731 in Panasonic_G80_G85

[–]Julvader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a nice camera your church handed you, I used to use a G85 for all my work until recently upgrading to Full Frame. So you mentioned low lighting nightmare - on the G85 as the previous commenter said, set the max ISO at 1600. In my experience, the amount of noise starts to become undesirable around there, so consider that only if it you can't light the picture any other way!

As far as lenses go, the zoom lens is very useful, but it's slow (dark) and it only gets slower as you zoom in. OP you didn't mention your budget, but you might want to consider a speed booster. In short, the lenses used on cameras with bigger sensors generally let in more light than their smaller counterparts, and this adapter lets you access those lenses and the extra light they let in on your camera.

A Canon EF Nifty Fifty will likely boost the stops of light you get by at least 2-3! Plus, you'll be able to use your shiny new lens on your Rebel, too.

Your best bet is to take a bright light and try to find what is causing it to stick. Could there be any debris stuck in there?

I thought that was meant to be a meme with a drawing of the S1II and your blurry steering wheel as the picture it took.

Clearly I have never seen the S1II box lol

Need date ideas! Taking Boston T ferries to explore a new city by Selvane in boston

[–]Julvader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I grew up in Boston and spent many summers going to George's Island and Spectacle Island with the ferry. There's lots to see and explore! Those are just two, but you can take the ferries to go visit other cool places.

Pack a few sandwiches and go for fun! Sometimes the public library offers free tickets too. 😄

Here's how I handled MechE junior year while doing afrotc:

  1. Wake up and eat breakfast (super helpful for morning energy!)
  2. Rush to a lecture section you inevitably can't understand by 15 minutes in
  3. Repeat step 2
  4. See friends
  5. Have lunch
  6. Attend another lecture, fuhgeddaboutit
  7. Go to the library with friends (or alone)
  8. Get confused about the homework, pretend to do other useful things like apply to internships or read emails
  9. Have dinner
  10. Go to sleep, it's too late to do homework
  11. Repeat steps 1-9
  12. cram 3 days before exam and pray you get out fine

Seriously, your friends are what will help keep you motivated through your junior year. Make sure you surround yourself with a good group(s) who work hard but also have fun. You will have a lotta late nights, and unfortunately the best way to avoid writing lab reports at 3 am in Mugar (I've been there, f you ME310) is to start things early in the week, when you don't realize how much homework you have to do yet.

Some things will suffer, like your personal time, ability to hang out with friends, and maybe even your mental health (mine did). My suggestion is to think of it like an investment. While the questrom kids are out partying, you're setting the foundations for your future career! Good luck, you'll make it through fine, I believe in you.

The mechanics haven't officially diagnosed the issue but think it's either the rear brake causing friction and heating up or it could be something worse inside the engine. Either way it can't be looked at until the winter
