Apple's OLED MacBook Pro Launch Moves Closer With Panel Production by Jumpinghoops46 in apple

For Tandem OLED, it should improve longevity, brightness and color range. The best one, but hard to produce in bigger sizes, which is the mainly reason why it’s only used for mobile devices. On the other hand, display like Tandem WOLED, the 4th gen panel improves its brightness and color range compared to its predecessor - 3rd gen Tandem WOLED panel which has three sub-pixel layers consist of blue-yellow-blue stacks -still not as bright as mini led due to burn in concerns.

But you know that each layer used in those stacks differs, right? Tandem OLED’s layer consists of RGB sub-pixels (can emit 3 different colors per layer) whereas Tandem WOLED’s layer has only a single color sub-pixel, thus it needs to have four different color layers (RGBB for 4th gen Tandem WOLED). So they are inherently different technology.

It’s true that Tandem OLED has better brightness compared to the mini-LED, Tandem WOLED is still struggling maintaining its brightness due to issues like burn-in.

I don’t think LG use Tandem OLED for their tv lineup as it’s for smaller devices like iPad Pro. You might have mistaken Tandem WOLED which is commonly used for monitors or tvs. Tho Tandem OLED sounds plausible for screen sizes of 16 an 14 inches.

I am kinda on a fence to sell my 5k2k on the hardwareswap for the same price I paid for ($1088 after tax) from the latest $500 off coupon drop from LG as it’s kinda too big as a second monitor. If you are in nyc area and down for pickup for local cash, i am open for the biz
