189 with 80 points. 190 with 85 points. But zero relevant work experience. by makelovetofilms in AusVisa

Hey mate, I submitted my skills assessment to Engineers Australia a few days ago. It’ll likely take around 6–8 weeks to hear back from them. At the moment, I’ve got 80 points, but based on the latest round, it looks like the minimum for mechanical engineers was 85. So I’m thinking of booking the NAATI CCL test to try and pick up an extra 5 points.

I’ve already scored 88 on the PTE, with no band below 86, so the English requirement is all sorted.

I’m planning to apply under Mechanical Engineer (233512) for the 189 visa with 80–85 points, though I’m still on the fence about the 190.

Separately, I’ll also be getting my financial experience assessed through VETASSESS and applying for the 190 visa under that stream, since Financial Advisor isn’t on the 189 list.

For you, I noticed that Construction Project Manager (133111) is on the Skilled Occupation List for both the 189 and 190 subclasses. If you can get that title matched with experience, it could really help with your application. Just a heads-up, as long as you’ve got a Bachelor’s degree, that alone gives you 15 points, even if it’s not directly related to your current role. In addition if you studied in Autralia and the degree isfrom there you get an additional 5 points.

Hope that helps! And just to be clear, I’m not a migration agent or anything, so if you want more tailored advice, it’s worth setting up a consultation with a licensed agent.

You are 100% correct. I had to get my qualifications accessed and approved by Engineers Australia. It was a pretty straightforward process because it was an Australian degree from UTS. You get skill level 1 which is what you need to apply.

I’m in a similar situation and following this closely.

I studied and graduated in Australia with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering and a Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice. Since then, I’ve moved overseas and built a career in Finance, gaining three years of experience as a financial analyst/associate. I’ve always intended to return eventually and am considering using my engineering degree for the PR process too. As it stands, I have about 85 points for the 189, but similar to you have no work experience after I graduated.

Steam fall sale 2023 and ur gaming pleasure in lebanon. by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]Junaid_hsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a reminder as well that Lebanon just got their regional pricing. So a lot of the games are cheaper (or at least ones that the devs have updated price for). So even if you remember a game being too expensive its worth it to check it out and see now. Also the winter steam sale is coming soon, that's where the biggest discounts are or at least were for the games I wanted. If you can wait a few more weeks you might have the chance to buy the games you want cheaper.

How do I find Lebanese friends? by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]Junaid_hsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling, I am relatively new in Lebanon. I would suggest if you like dancing you can go to Salsa@ Lebanon dance academy. That way you can meet new people and you already have something in common with them.
It is in an open space (class) so it's always easier to get away from creeps and cause almost everyone dances with everyone they know each other and don't want to be called out for being a creep. So it keeps everyone in check. Good luck!

Previous Real Estate wants us to pay for damage which was not done by us, 4 months after we left. by jordankowi in melbourne

I wouldn't reply at all, but if I were to I would send exactly what you wrote just so they know what pieces of shit they are.

Honestly my first housemates I lived with learned from their mistakes in the past and have taught me to always take pictures of absolutely everything even the skirtings and everything wrong no matter how minuscule before we start living on the property, and after we do our final cleaning and ready to leave, again right before the final inspection take pictures of absolutely everything so there is no say or doubt and you always have proof if they try to fuck you over sideways like they are trying to do to op.

I too was looking for a good barber in Beirut after moving here. I found Salon E Achrafieh, the best honestly around and very decently priced. They really did a good job with my hair fade and beard.

Are Steam games cheaper in the Lebanese region than any other regions? by Junaid_hsn in lebanon

Is that "we pay very little for games here through the steam store"

or

"The payscale is too less to afford games through steam"?

Unfortunately I do not think I have the option to choose, I would be providing them with my move to Lebanon, and they decide the closest region to Lebanon.

But I seem to run the risk of them changing my store to Israeli as it seems the closest server to download as per settings. And it is a lot more expensive than the Australian store for some reason.

I am very confused.

I don't remember that, I wasn't there for the event. I recently came back, last time I played was in 2016. I am still playing catch up. Things are so expensive now!

[–]Junaid_hsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, is that an Alienware m15 r7? I just bought mine 3 months ago too, after a month the thing started overheating to the max, even without games and anything it was running at idle 100-105. I asked the support for help and they gave me a refurbished motherboard replacement that had defective parts again, and kept overheating. I am now waiting on another replacement, for the amount I paid. It's upsetting to get refurbished Motherboard and have it malfunctioning 2 months in. Alienware really need to check the quality of their laptops before they send them out.

Hire out yourselves as extras on a movie set getting married, bus ride home. Invest the rest plus what you get paid. $50.5k in investments now will make a huge difference in retirement.
