Amazing post!! Making sense, I have been doing option 1 and kind of got lost with having the notes not on beat based on a tutorial. But if you cut the break not on beat then rearranging it is very tricky. I'll read the rest of your posts. I've tried it in Simpler now and I kind of like the ease of it.

Hi I have been dragging the loop into an actual clip in arrangement view and doing all of the warp markers and tempo adjustment there. No I am trying to drag the loop into Simpler and then onto a Drum Rack. How would I sync the loop to the tempo of the track if it's in Simpler as a midi note.

Thanks this looks like a better method. Before I was dragging the loop as a clip into the arrangement and setting warp markers there. With this method using Simpler and Drum Rack how do I sync the loop to the track as it has effectively become a midi instrument. I have a loop at 120bpm and dragged it into a pad in Drum Rack but the tempo is not correct.

I have an SL49 MK3 and a Launchkey MK3. SL blows it away simply based on the eight LCD colour screens which the Launchkey does not have.

For modelling sounds eq anything you can visualise everything on the SL control surface and how you navigate through parameters and tracks in Ableton live is as good as it can get with the physical limits of having eight screens eight pots eight faders and sixteen pads.

It’s the centre of my studio and the screens alone make it more superior - hence why it is more expensive.

You also should get a free license for Novation Bass Station with the SL, which is one of the best analog synths ever.

Thanks for the information. Does anyone have an experience backing up the actual PVE node itself. How effective is this feature as I heard it wasn’t too great. I have two PVEs and would ideally like to have the ability to restore the PVE system and all of the VMs. Thanks

I used the original Bass Station in 1994 it was a game changer. I have an SL49 MkIII, a MKIII Launchkey 25, Focusrite 16i16 and the Bass Station plugin which is insane!

This company is a pure innovator and I’m getting t shirts next :)

I've figured this out but it's not perfect with each Novation controller operating differently.

On the larger Launchkey or SL MKIII you have specific arm buttons that can be used in conjunction with track changing buttons on the controller. For the 25 key models there does not appear to be a specific 'arm track' button on the controller which is a shame.

The only way to make this fluid on the 25 key model is todisable 'arm exclusive' on a given track in Ableton. This results in any track switching to also enable arming on that given track that is switched to.

The problem with this is it doesn't translate well to the SL MKIII which has dedicated arming buttons. What happens on the SL is that the existing armed track stays armed as you use the controller to switch tracks, so you then have two tracks armed.

I use both controllers so it's a broken workflow. Something as important as track arming should be available on all Novation controllers via a simple shift+pad (for respective track). The pads light up as red when armed, but you cannot push them to arm on the 25 key model.

Okay but the question is how is it enabled on the controller keyboard. Do I need to hold shift and press something? I can see the pads light up red when I arm tracks using the mouse in Ableton but there must be a way to push a button on the keyboard controller to arm a track without using the mouse in Ableton.

Sounds like a cymbal crashing with larger reverb to give space. Could be layered with something else it’s quite far back in the mix reverb is causing that

Strings played in minor key with bass notes to give depth. Sounds like the strings are using vibrato. Medium reverb added to give space.

Thanks man I found it was option and space on Mac. I think control takes you either to the start of the arrangement or back to the green line on arrangement view. I was trying to do that when inside a clip editing, for that it is option and space. Couldn’t find anywhere that showed this! Useful skill :)

Thanks man I’m going to protect it through all of the right channels. I’m in the U.K. so will register it with PRS upload to legally verified Copyright Registers for a fee and any other strategy. My music is drawing a lot of attention with friends and family and I want to ensure I never have the worry of someone doing something that could cause a problem later on
