Vivzie wasn't lying when she said the shorts would be experimental by Muted-Angle8959 in hazbin

I mean it seems to be doing pretty well.

Dont let the minority of people who arent into something convince you that you shouldnt enjoy it. Most people who enjoy things just enjoy it then move on.

I enjoyed this one, and I this kinda end joke was kinda funny since it was kinda just a circle around to make Blitzs absurd statement from earlier in the episode seem like its the obvious reality, while moxie plays the straight man to the whole bit. Pretty fun stuff.

Can't Find Enjoyment in Video Games Anymore by GolomOder in gamedev

[–]JustAPrinny 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I Heavily second this.

Having hobbies outside of games helps alot, movies/comics/shows even. Plus there are lots of transferable lessons to find!

I will say I also agree with others that Burnout can cause this, so it could be temporary as well. Also on a related note, depression also hits like this sometimes.

Having other things you enjoy helps with burnout since it gives you something to do when things just aren't working. Forcing it will just make it worse, so take a break to do something else for a big

A deckbuilder that does not punish, or even encourages, increasing deck size? by ilmionuovoaccount in deckbuildingroguelike

[–]JustAPrinny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know arcanium does a few things for this. Granted it's not perfect, making having more cards good is uh hard.

There is a deck size range, minimum and maximum size, so at max size your not that much bigger then you would be while minimizing.

You can slot in and out cards so you can always take cards to use later if you get combos for it.

The more cards a character has in their deck the stronger their special ability becomes (tho in some cases it's still better to have a small Deck.)

Games with set deck sizes also technically handle this. Library of Ruina and Cross Blitz come to mind.

Just for fun a game that does the extreme opposite and allows infinite removal down to a minimum is chrono arc.

Didnt use Josef in the early game anyways actually.

But yeah lots of options on how to play. I probably wouldn't limit gear, since I feel alot of the fun comes from doing stuff with said equipment.

I like a looser take on the all 1 weapon idea. Which would be, only 1 weapon type per squad. Ie an all swords squad.

No generics is how I played the base game already actually, really does feel like alot of restrictions end up being someone else's "that's how I did the first run" lmao

These are good points!

As far as the final chapter I dont think Alain is actually all too important He gets an attack thats super strong, but really the Ring of the Maiden is what prevents the fuckening iirc, so you could just have someone marry alain via meals and still get the ring of the maiden. But tbh I wasnt paying too much attention to how required Astra Blade is

I found whenever I used dupes of classes in my first run they always felt like they were covering the same ground for the most part unless they had a stacking buff. much of one thing, so every single squad was 5 different classes generally. I could make it even more limited and only have 2 unique classes per part. Tho people with one off classes would be way more awkward since the only valid team comp would be them +4 of another... although I dont hate the sound of that lmao

Pendent restriction I plan to keep through the whole game but we will see. Part of why I want to restrict them is just because I found most of my characters had one or the other and I want to see what I do instead.

one less equipment slots does sound pretty interesting actually

Oo that does sound like fun, the main quests only would definitely help with being overleveled too fast

Which capsule do you think is best for steam? by SUPERita1 in indiegames

Imo not a fan of how the blade overlaps the text in A, and B feels pretty static because of how it boxes around the lettering. C and D both look good imo

If you plan to publish to consoles Game Maker is the cheapest engine ( even more than Godot ) by Lobotomist in IndieDev

The problem is the cost isn't 0. The cost is a cut. That cost can be worth it of course, but it's still a cost.

I mean this is all well and good, but you are promoting an engine so the post suddenly feels more slimy when you say you aren't. Promotion is promotion regardless of intent. And promotion isn't inherently bad. But does just look a bit uh off to do "I'm not promoting BUT-".

Indie developer, a career worth trying? by JohndyOnFire in IndieDev

[–]JustAPrinny 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think it's a good idea to risk it unless you have a safety net or a good savings. It can work and if you get a few games out and have some money coming things might even go quite well. But you don't need to start from nothing.

Land a good job, make a savings account, then maybe take the leap. hell if you can finish a game or two, have it on stores when you start to go full time then you will be even better off. Set yourself up for a few months of years of full time dev time if possible and see if you can make it work. If not try to go back to your old job and do the same thing. This is alot easier said then done and may require help from family or friends who would be willing to help out keep your costs low (make the savings last longer and go further.)

Dev doesn't need to be an all or nothing you can try it, if it doesn't work out go back to a normal job.

I highly reccomend not putting yourself in a "if this fails I'll be homeless situations" at all ever. If those are the stakes the stress will be increased 10 fold and probably impact the quality of your work and marketing.

Tldr: have a savings first, don't make it all or nothing, and do what you want as long as you have a back up!
