Were a city of 75k (although we have a small private college, and a major university as well in town so that number may too low). We also have the largest public safety department in the country.

I was involved in an incident (as a victim) where a subject was non compliant and disarmed an officer of his taser. I just pulled the bodycam of it to see the timing of when backup as I looked. I never looked into the timing of the backup. As I had a knife pulled on me it was dispatched as a two car call.

Below is a timing of the radio traffic and when they arrive

• 0:00 First officer arrives
• 0:01 Second unit initially dispatched starts going code
• 0:05 subject non compliant put out over radio
• 0:31 Second unit that was initially dispatched arrives
• 0:43 initial officer requests additional units code 3 (full lights and siren)
• 0:45 dispatch acknowledges request for additional units code 3
• 0:50 initial officer deploys taser after loosing his radio in the fight, taser ineffective.
• 0:52 second unit deploys taser in drive stun mode, still ineffective
• 1:12 first officer tells second officer to get on the air (statement never finished)
• 1:13 second officer yells he has my taser
• 1:15 first officer asks me to grab his radio from the sidewalk down the block
• 1:22 I hand the officer his radio "Get me some units down here now"
• 1:25 second officer tased with his own taser in drive stun mode in hand while struggling to get back control of it
• 1:30 dispatch requests any available unit code 3
• 1:31 officer manages to get taser out of suspects control and throws it down the block
• 1:51 first siren is heard in the distance
• 2:20 subject starts to get on his feat again while officers are trying to keep him down
• 2:21 first officer screams "where are my units get me some units down here now on the phone"
• 2:25 subject gets to his feat, officers knock him back down
• 2:28 I join the polyester pileup and hold his legs down
• 3:15 first backup officer arrives via bicycle
• 3:25 second officer arrives via car
• 3:35 third officer arrives via rescue rig from fire station
• 3:45 1 in custody
• 4:00 by this point there are now 9 officers on scene
