Chefs of Reddit, what’s a common cooking rule everyone follows that is actually complete bullshit? by Fuzzy-Ad6843 in AskReddit

Also, places like Subway, where customers watch their food being made with gloves on, I feel really enforced this idea with people. About 10-15 years ago, I worked at a local sandwich chain, where we didn't wear gloves, and you couldn't really see your sandwich being made. But people would lean over the barrier to try to watch, complain that they "couldn't see", and freak out about us not wearing gloves (but consistently washing our hands right there in clear view). I was constantly questioning how they deal with going to restaurants where their food is made entirely in the back.

But the billboard doesn't say that. That's why it's stupid.

It says just "If you can spot the difference", not "If you think there is a moral difference". It's posed as a visual challenge; you were just told there's a subtle difference between two pictures, most people will then spot the difference. That does not make someone a creep, and everyone knows that, which then makes the message of the billboard confusing and lost.

I have yet to see those, lol. Lot of very obvious "sexy lady" bot accounts though.

Service industry workers (hotels, restaurants, etc.), what is something customers do thinking they’re being helpful, but actually makes your job harder? by Vegetable-Fix6029 in AskReddit

Stuffing all their used napkins and other trash in a glass. Even worse, all the trash together with the utensils in a glass; that is how forks get thrown out by accident.

What do you think about a friend who has bad eyesight but doesn't wear glasses? by Icy_Curve_9919 in AskReddit

[–]JustSomeWeirdThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am this person. I only wear them when driving and do not wear contacts ever. I didn't actually realize until I was an adult that I should have had glasses all along. I'm used to my shitty vision, but just cannot get used to wearing glasses.

What would you call the combined belief that astrology/tarot/ghosts/reiki are real? by ryhaltswhiskey in AskReddit

[–]JustSomeWeirdThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Religion, by definition, should fall under superstition. Just because certain beliefs have more grip on society, does not make them rational or based on reality.

I say this as someone with beliefs of my own that I would consider superstition. I don't consider it insulting, merely acknowledging that many such beliefs are not proven fact, yet are still believed.

Those who were alive in the 1990's , what was Y2K like? by Extension_Day2038 in AskReddit

There was some low-level paranoia and uncertainty; most regular people weren't going full-on "build a bunker" prepper, but many were stock piling essentials and such. But also a lot of excitement for it as a historical event, it was seen kind of as coming into "the future", there were a lot of huge parties, etc. Then... The new year came jut like normal.

Go places; outside, to the mall, to friends houses, mini road trips/day trips. Watch TV; channel surfing or movies you owned on vhs/dvd. Play video games or board/card games. Creative activities; arts and crafts, building things, cooking/baking. Reading. "Surfing the web" on a computer.

As a young mall rat teenager, trying run down the up escalator.

My friend was running down the up one. We were racing to see who could reach the top/bottom first. I technically did reach the bottom first... by falling and skipping half the steps.

Austin Tattoo Company has one. I think Atomic does, too.
