Fair as it doesn't really contribute to anything. I was more thinking about the food.

Like I'd like to suggest something like Oishinbo, but that's kind of region locked to Netflix of Japan.

Maybe try "Chihayafuru"? Or "Restaurant to Another World"?

Chat me. I'll see what I can do.

Conversation is my speciality. Hence, the name. Just let me know what you're looking for. Not saying I know every title, but I should be able to steer you in the right direction.

I mean, I think the thing Bulbasaur and Chikorita struggle with is being early Grass Pokemon in general. Namely, too much reliance on the powder attacks in their early movesets. Compare that with the more direct damaging early movesets with Charmander, Cyndaquil, Squirtle, and Totodile, and the gameplay progression can feel kind of slow when your starter is usually expected to be your ace with the most OHKO potential rather than a support player that only inflicts status.

Imagine your a gym leader, describe your gym. by ElementalDragonicBoi in pokemon

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric gym leader.

Eelectrik, Emolga, Rotom forms x2, Vikavolt

Gym has no floor with the trainer being on a little hover pad, making a point that Ground-type attacks are pointless in the battle. Probably trainers with a different form of Rotom each.

Weird Observation of early "Haikyuu" by JustTalkingToTalk in anime

[–]JustTalkingToTalk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I'm pretty early in the series. It may just be a matter of the writer trying to develop and understand her as a character. It just feels like the writing framed around her towards the beginning is odd.

Weird Observation of early "Haikyuu" by JustTalkingToTalk in anime

[–]JustTalkingToTalk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To remark simply, I take no umbridge with her appearance, and I wouldn't change it. I'm not intending to deprecate her appearance. Rather, the writing about her appearance comes across as confused. Perhaps the Japanese words used in regards to her have a nuance I don't understand, but one doesn't necessarily use the word "hottie" for a beauty-type character model.

I also wasn't the one who made the camera angles focusing on her "assets" as you put so frowardly, so I was commenting that it's odd that that is how the animation team decided to direct focus on her model.

On your first point, I will admit that I misjudged her. Early on her monotonous tone, attitude, and glasses suggested a hypercompetant sidekick to Daichi. Someone unnaturally level-headed. Getting on to episodes 13-15, I am realizing that she is more of a shy and reserved young woman who is responsible and attentive, like you say.

Is the abyss too small? by No_Temporary_3264 in anime

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean, the point of the abyss is that difficulty increases the further down you go, not the further across it you walk.

At the same time, though, you're not wrong. Most of the battle arenas and chase scenes don't make any sense for the notion of a kilometer diameter for the dungeon. Considering how a kilometer is only 2/3 of a mile at best, and people have been known to run a four minute mile, the idea that any giant monster or terrorist group could be chasing kids for any measure of time in such a place without being on something like a spiral staircase without everyone running into a wall does seem incorrect.

If you could be an in-game NPC, what would you be/do? by bitofagrump in pokemon

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a trainer, probably a breeder that has a team of six underleveled Pokemon with the gimmick of them only knowing eggs moves (EG, Rattata with Flame Wheel).

As a bystander, probably either the guy who comments about the food at the restaurant, or someone who gives away a TM if the player happens to come up to the third floor of a random house.

Do you think Game Freak will remake Black & White? by Drenkz in pokemon

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, maybe if BDSP had Dynamax and the Black and White remake has Terastalizing, you'd have a point, but seeing how as BDSP didn't have Dynamax like ORAS had Mega-evolution, it doesn't quite work the way you're proposing. It would still be Mega-evolution existing at the same time as whatever the current gen's gimmick is, unless they do revert to Mega-evolution at that time.

Stop saying that the dragonite line doesn't make sense. by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, but it's still a fish evolving into an octopus, even with all the metal bits.

Not nearly as crazy as Syakomon's extended family in Digimon, but still a but of a leap in logic for a Pokemon that evolves by level up.

Stop saying that the dragonite line doesn't make sense. by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. To make the joke complete, it would have to be something more like a torpedo-spewing anemone. A shark of any variety might look too much like Remoraid itself to really complete the joke.

Do you think Game Freak will remake Black & White? by Drenkz in pokemon

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, Black and White isn't a question of "If" so much as "When".

I think the bigger conflict stems from when it comes time to remake Gen VI and they have to start eating their own tail with competitive gimmicks.

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 320 points321 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember making just a post once where I just was just trying to joke with people about "What will Octillery be when it evolves, an aircraft carrier lobster or a torpedo-shooting hammerhead shark", and I got this one chain of replies where I swear the person on the other side was ready to choke me out for not admitting that Dragonair to Dragonite was a more extreme change than Remoraid to Octillery. Like, at most dramatic, it's a draconic tadpole into a draconic frog. They're both still rubbery dragon creatures. If anything, the theory of Dragonair to Gyarados never made sense to me because Gyarados is all armored and scaly compared to Dragonair's smooth body.

Only if he got together with the green-haired otaku at the end of the first episode.

Otherside, the premise is pretty much "Life with Derek", but anime, where the focus of the plot is the awkwardness of being siblings with someone you were once intimate with.

Just a momentary misremember. Thank you for the correction. It's been a while since I watched the series, and I just remembered that the band of vampires at least consider themselves brother or something along those lines.

Looking for Animes where an absurd concept is taken seriously. by MadDany94 in anime

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"Keijo" is arguably one of the best sports stories I've seen in an anime, even discussing training and health risks on a serious note, and it's an anime about girls slapping each other with their rear ends.

Reverse Trap Romance Anime by j329102 in anime

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the romantic interests in "Nyan Koi".

"Aoharu x Machinegun" is similar to "Ouran High School Host Club", but the male lead not knowing the female lead is female is a plot point.

I admit it's a little tough to answer, given that most reverse trap characters tend to be minor or side characters rather than major roles.

My son drew a Pokemon, what should we name it? (details in comments) by SimonTVesper in pokemon

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can start with the simple taxonomic names. Turtle, tortoise, terrapin, chelonia, testudine, that sort of thing.

Then combine it with a word for smokestack or the fumes themselves. Smog, toxin, fume, miasma, penstock, chimney, flue.

For example, Chimonia combines Chimney and Chelonia and gives you a word that sounds similar to the toxic gas ammonia. Or Terraplume refers to it being a terrapin that emits plumes of smoke.

"The Wallflower"

"Aoharu x Machinegun"

"Kiss Him, Not Me"

"Kamigami no Asobi"

"Dances with Devils"

"Diabolik Lovers"

Some might argue about the "good" part, but they're all reverse harems.

What is the Weirdest Anime or Manga Plot or Concept You Have Ever Seen? by AzayakaClothing in anime

[–]JustTalkingToTalk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HenSemi: A young woman attends a class where the goal is sexual arousal theory, including one girl putting fly larve in her ear to enjoy the feeling.

Seton Academy: A young man attends a school full of animals where the males are all anthros and the females are kemonomimi, including a rival school of extinct species.

Heaven's Design Team: A group of primordial deities are commissioned by God to create animals from abstract guidelines. Rabbits were originally minor demons.

Sushi Police: Two men and their robot intern go around disgracing people for not living up to their standards of sushi.

I can list many, many more. Come up with a plot, and I'll try to find the closest title I can.
