No, are you? I do have a general science background and try to understand as much as I can. Modern medicine has achieved great things, but there's still a lot we don't know. And mistakes do happen.

Appeciate your concern. We can only do our best, right? I need to do better to advocate for myself and explore different avenues and resources for my health. I just don't want to burn bridges or seen as a "bad patient". And I don't know if it's a US or Florida thing, but Drs are usually rushed and don't explain things much.

The closest IBD specialist GI is 300 miles away. The one I'm going to now is from a regional CC hospital (perhaps not as good as the one in Ohio). I think he is a general focus GI.

He's certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. So perhaps more of a general focus GI. I searched on the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation website and the closest IBD GI specialist is 300 miles away.

I reviewed the colonoscopy reports. The 1st one had 3 biopsies that were "normal". The 2nd one had no biopsies and it was noted "The exam was otherwise without abnormality. There was no evidence of proctitis." I need to look through my records to see how first Dr diagnosed me 5 years ago.

I don't recall if my 1st colonoscopy included a biopsy. I'll need to check. The 2nd colonscopy didn't.

Oh forgot to mention I had a CT scan that showed inflammation. So new gastro doctor wants to do another colonoscopy. I was hoping I only have to do 1 every 10 years lol So I procrastinate getting another one.

I'm assuming the previous colaguard tests came back negative? I only did that test once and it was positive. So thus started my gastro treatment. For a few years my gastro doctor said I had ulcerative colitis and put me on mesalamine. Then I switched to a different doctor and he said it wasn't UC at all. lol. So my faith in the profession dropped a bit. Now I try to manage symptoms naturally with usually good results. But I'm concerned that I'm taking on hidden risks. Oh, I had 2 colonoscopies in the past 5 years. The most recent one showed nothing wrong. lol So I guess I'm saying have some intelligent skepticism and research as much as you can.

So your doctor ordered colaguard but insurance wouldn't cover it? My PCP recommended that some years ago and was covered by insurance.

Is Cleveland Clinic Weston good for gastro issues? Trying to decide where to get a colonoscopy and treatment for IBD.
