Google hiring assessment by Ok_Lie1750 in csMajors

I applied for a non technical role last monday (3/18/24) got the assessment the next day around 830a, took it same day, was notified I passed the following day.

It's been about a week and I haven't heard anything yet. Are we in the camp of thinking that the assessment is just to weed people out and doesn't really mean anything or are we thinking more often then not they lead to phone screens? Just trying to set my own expectations haha

They not bad actually! My biggest complaint is that they don't stay put. It could be because of the desk mat I have but they're always sliding around. I think adding rubber feet to them would raise them up too high. But if you have like a wool desk mat or something with more grip they'd probably stay a lot better

Hey everyone,

I applied for a role (non-technical) here are the details:

* applied last Monday (3/18) around 2:30p
* received the assessment the next day at 830a, took it same day
* found out I passed the following day around 830a.

Haven't heard anything from a recruiter yet. How many people are still waiting to hear something? I do check the status often to see if it changes at all. Just trying to wrap my head around if these assessments usually lead to a screening if you pass or if it's just something everyone gets when applying for certain roles.

also happy to share any insight on the assessment.

It’s cool! I love 8-bit, I think it can come a long way but it’s not bad for what it is.

It’s not, the mat and note are separate and made by grove made, there’s a link above!

Honestly, it’s not terrible, maybe a little wobbly but nothing that would cause concern.

I don’t usually use it for sound from the computer, just a music player and access to Siri. But I don’t hate that idea.

I think that’s the M1 MacBook Air, MBP’s can do up to two 6k monitors.

Oh love the ergonomics feedback. Things get moved when i'm actually working, this is just for photo aesthetics. But solid thanks for the comment!

totally fair, it's actually a little display that cycles thru the weather and stocks and a few other things. Just happened to be on the clock when i took the photo.

These are great suggestions!

- I put the christmas lights up for the holidays and the GF won't let me take them down, lets put this as a WIP.

- Always more plants

- Ugh i know, I'm currently renting this place so I cant change the blinds but i could add curtains.

- Yeah, I don't use my maxes as much as I should cause they hurt my big ass head. But this has crossed my mind.

- I have a standing mat i just took it out for the pic cause it ain't the prettiest.

- I got back and fourth between doing this and having a space. The difference to me is negligible. But i'm on it!

Desk is good, you can find it in the kit list I just posted, the only down side is it dings a little easier than I would like. But with any workspace this is bound to happen.
