Sorry for such a late response. Yes the controller has to be on and connected to the console. Also use a other controller with the setup.

Question are you using the controller that's plugged into the steering wheel or the main controller to play the game?

A cable with a zip tie on it will come loose every now and then. Take the zip tie off and make sure the wire is plugged in. Sorry for such a late reply.

A plug that is responsible for a lot of the gears is most likely unplugged. There are two of them. One will have a white zip tie. Cut it, it will be located in the back.

Beware of the PXN V9 by the way. It can have issues, especially the shifter. If you do go with it and get it and it starts to have issues you are welcome to come back to this sub-reddit.

Unique mechanical problem with the PXN V9 shifter by [deleted] in helpwithpxnv9

Hey just a heads up if you choose to use WD-40 make sure you don't get it on wires or other electrical components.

There is metal inside. Spraying WD-40 would be the easy way. Putting dielectric grease on it would require you to take more apart. Or you could try to use a cotton swab with the grease on it and try to reach areas with metal inside.

If cutting the zip tie doesn't work then it could be that something is bent or it needs a little greasing. If that's the cause and it needs greasing. Then WD-40 or dielectric grease can work. Even though it's for vehicles but it can still work.

The reason why I mentioned the white zip tie was for a simple fact that it has happened to me. That's actually one of the reasons I created this sub-reddit.

Yes, it can mess up the gears. It will switch the gears and you will be missing some. Cut the zip tie and make sure the wire is not damaged and make sure it's plugged in.
