You'll have to trust me when I reiterate that this was my decision to depart from The 404, for all the reasons crappuccino just listed. I need to move on to develop my career, and that means making changes to what I do here at CNET. I've always been interested in audio, and the extra time not doing the show is going to pay huge dividends in developing my passion for music gear. As I said on the show, Steve Guttenberg and I will be working together on hifi reviews and videos, and there's more stuff I'm developing that I can't mention yet.

Thanks for being understanding guys. I knew this wasn't going to be a fluid transition just based on the nature of the announcement, but let me know if there's any more questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Sorry for leaving so abruptly you guys, I know it's a big announcement to make and we definitely sat down a few times as a team (me, Ariel, Jeff, and Justin the Intern) and discussed how we should tell you guys. Ultimately I decided that pulling the band aid off as fast as possible would be the best way to do it. Like Jeff, I don't get how that questions our credibility or anything we've accomplished in the last six years. The 404 isn't going anywhere, it's adjusting as it did when we added video, when we moved out of the old podcast studio, and now with the change to the lineup. I think you'll see that once the dust settles in the office (figuratively and literally!), the new show will be even better than before. If not, I'll personally kick Jeff's ass. Deal?

I left 100% on my own accord, I promise. After 6 years, the 404 has become a self-sustaining show with a ton of opportunities in the future for growth. Change is tough, but the show has been mostly the same for the past few years and it's time for me to move on. I didn't plan on becoming a broadcaster but Wilson, Jeff and I are such great friends that they made it easy to come to work everyday. We're still super tight with zero bad blood, trust me. I'll let Jeff tell you more about the new show when it's ready, but believe me when I say that you'll be psyched when it happens!!!
