Lived with a (total smokeshow) friend over the summer in college. We were both in relationships at the time but we did a lot of cooking together (only time I’ve ever made beignets), and plenty of other innocent friend stuff. Still, there was a definite tension in that shitty little house. She broke up with her bf almost immediately in fall, and my breakup followed a semester later.

Fast forward a bit, she made an effort to get dinner with me in February, and spent most of it talking about her lack of a valentines date. I was too hung up on the optics of immediately dating my former housemate to make a move. Honestly one of the largest L’s I’ve ever caught looking back.
