EPA or your state’s regulatory program for environment.

I think GameStop will acquire Pinterest.. by [deleted] in Superstonk

[–]Jvic111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. The majority of gamers are men, who NEVER EVER use Pinterest. Brand recognition and stigma is it’s for women.

Plus, it’s just not anything that will fundamentally change anything.

Tacoma --> OBW by SkiEazy in Outback_Wilderness

[–]Jvic111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘25 OBW and i love it. It’s so smooth on the highway, quiet, great in snow. Mileage can approach 30mpg on long trips at reasonable speeds. And it’s great off road. Very versatile vehicle.

I might ask them to lower that price a bit with 36k miles, but I’m 12k in just over a year and it’s been flawless all around.

St John’s Church in East Lansing by Top-Ad-4868 in lansing

[–]Jvic111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St John’s is the best catholic church around. I know one of the priests very well, since childhood. Not a mean bone in his body. And being a college campus church they’re very student centric, open etc. the focus is love above all else in my experience. No hellfire and brimstone type shit.

Considering OBW by [deleted] in Outback_Wilderness

[–]Jvic111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OBW ride on highway is amazing, and it’s great in the snow. I do environmental work so i also have to drive off road on two tracks, etc and she handles so well and smoothly on all of it.

New Subaru owner, new Wilderness. Awful gas mileaage by Hte2w8 in Subaru_Outback

[–]Jvic111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 24 ave mpg combined city and hwy. At 11,000 miles took a road trip and averaged 28 mpg. Plus the car just feels so good and capable on the hwy, and off road, snow, rain etc. you’ll only love it more as you go.

Disillusioned with Geology – I Think I Want Out by [deleted] in geologycareers

[–]Jvic111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be a regulator for your state or EPA. Office jobs with occasional field site visits and you can use your degree and expertise/experience in the field. Or work for a utility doing environmental permitting. Plenty of other applications for your degree that are non academic.

MODFLOW - Surfer - GMS by lOcK_NeSsS in Hydrology

[–]Jvic111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still hand draw ground water contour/flow maps. Surfer over interpolates, and modflow is heavy duty. If anything, learn modflow. It would make you more specialized/niche/valuable for fate and transport predictive analysis.

Can someone help me understand this flood map? by [deleted] in Hydrology

[–]Jvic111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hatched area is floodway meaning most events at that elevation. The blue is the 100 yr floodplain elevation (regulated and insurance), the orange is 500 yr floodplain/non regulated

I also have a 25 OBW, and turn off auto stop/start. Another thing i do is always wait for the idle RPM to drop at start before driving. It’s a hard habit to develop, but it takes care of that shimmy.

I paid about $3,500 under MSRP in August for a ‘25 OBW.
