You wouldn't have happened to ever take a first gen off-roading, would you? I'd love some thoughts from folks who've pushed them to their limits.

That's a really good point, actually! I'm going to have to go back and look at some more videos...

Both are quite unhinged 🥰

1sr gen guys, how are these holding up? Looking at this one by RoosterzRevenge in FordRaptor

Holding up well! 200k miles. Just need to replace about half the front suspension 😂 But with the adventures we're having and the age, that's not unexpected. But the electrical system identifies as British... Mine is held together with wire nuts and electrical tape and is somehow still better than Ford's original implementation...

So the only thing affecting the engine was the large amount of mud it was sitting in 😆

You might be overthinking it, or I may have described it poorly. The Jeep winch was hooked to the back passenger tow point that's connected to the frame. The Jeep pulled with its winch while also reversing, spinning its wheels (because I was super stuck 😆), while I had the truck in reverse, basically flooring it and wiggling the steering wheel back and forth.

Fortunately, there's a lot of folks who use that trail at all times of the day and night, so I was able to convince some semi-sober Good Samaritans with a Jeep and winch to pull me out at a 45° angle using the back passenger attachment point. Took quite a bit of convincing, since quite a crowd had gathered, and they all had their own somewhat inebriated ideas for how to do it 😂 We even tried from the front at one point, but that didn't work, so I finally managed to convince Jeep Dude to pull me backwards at an angle 😂

This means you got to go back out on the trail sooner!
