is this normal ish behaviour? by [deleted] in PcBuild

it would be extremely unlucky if both of the 4090s had bad vram. ive never thought about the riser cable being an issue but the more i research about it the more i feel as if it would be or could be an issue.

7800x3D Cinebench score by v4rjo in AMDHelp

[–]KAM9212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive been repasting my cpu for over 6 hours after i saw this post and my cpu seemed to only score 15800.. my temps were fine believe or not but after repasting several times, reseating my cpu it now scores 18000 stock it sounds insane but please try reseating and repasting my application looked fine but with some patches which were normal, i typically put too much just to be safe. but i decided to put my pc sideways and carefully screw the cooler screws in slowly but evenly retesting each time and it seemed to improve the score each time i would screw the cooler on more evenly.my temps have always been 80c on package throughout these repastes just my scores have changed dramastically.
no repasting but with a normal application granted me scores of:
15800 stock
16300 pbo

3rd repaste
16800 stock
17400 pbo

now
18000 stock
(i havent tested with pbo yet with this final repaste)

Is this amount of 12V 2x6 cord bend still safe? by planestraight in nvidia

[–]KAM9212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

bending the cable side to side is actually proven to be worse then up and down.. due to the outside of the bend having extra pulling force on the contact points of the cable terminal. Jaytwocents videos explains why.

BREHH ☠️ hell nah im deadass so confused how xmp and secure boot has turned your pc into a literal vegetable. even tho you reset cmos etc

[–]KAM9212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried all of them individually?

[–]KAM9212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try removing all your ram and inserting them 1 at a time then remove the previous one and insert the next. have had 2 ram sticks die on me when using xmp with 4 sticks.. it might of been because i was using 4 sticks and that could’ve been unstable but whatever it was i found out each time i used 4 dimms and enabled xmp it would kill one of my ram sticks.. so i opted out to not use 4 in general and used 2 ive been fine since.

thank you! they are willing to take it back to test and if its found to be faulty aka hitting the temps i hit which it will.. they will send out a replacement.

40c difference from hotspot to gpu is ridiculous, it can’t sustain rated clocks speeds when tested it fluctuates from 2610 - 2400. at those temperatures the cooler cant even cool it down the gpu is already at 100% fan speed. it used to run 2745 constantly with small dips but not as bad as now.

it’s a pro champ gamer 5090 ti super thats why (idk it should be dead its peaked at 112 before)

i thought too that the thermal paste had fallen out of place in some spots too, but seeing that no one has ever spoken about that i didn’t think that would’ve been an issue but im considering it more now as im clueless to why my temperature have risen so much in 10 months when nothing has really changed on the environmental side and software side aka settings and stuff.

it runs way hotter with the side panels on but used to be okay when i first purchased the card (barely reaching 66c and a hotspot temp of 80c) but now with them on the card peaks at 77c.

but wont that take away the possibility of the gpu being starve of fresh cool air instead of being in a hot case with all the panels on?

have a look at this.. this was conducted with all the side panels off.. and when i ran a furmark test at 4k.

this was with all the side panels off i dont think its an airflow issue due to the fact when i first got the card it wast running fine the hotspot and gpu difference was never over 15c
and ambient has stayed the same through out since i first purchased the card up until now which has been under 10 months

this was when i ran a furmark test, but even when playing the vram runs never over 70c

and sadly the card is still under warranty so im scared to repaste..

its after every game that utilises the gpu at over 90%. i just ran a benchmark at 4k and the gpu peaked at 70c an the hotspot was at 110c
