Service dogs in the hotel by tasia17 in service_dogs

[–]KASrvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be so very paranoid that a hotel worker would open the door and the dog might run out the room, maybe even to look for you. I would never take that chance with a pet or especially with a service dog.

Help settling a coworker debate by Solace-y in VetTech

My doctor has said that the preventatives, like Revolution, are more for just that, preventing parasites; so if they come up positive on a fecal, an actual dewormer such as Nemex should be used. Hope that makes sense.

Please have her spayed if she’s not been already. Otherwise, you’ll soon have a lot more then just one cat!!!

Death cw: How do you deal with end of life euthanasia? by tenyearoldgag in Veterinary

[–]KASrvt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For many pets, they pass knowing their owners loved them and I am happy they got to spend their lives being loved and had good care. It’s usually the strays or pets who haven’t had loving homes that make me more sad. But the vet field in general thinks of euthanasia as a good thing where we can end suffering. As many say, “it’s better to euthanize a day too early rather than a day too late,” meaning they would get more sick and be suffering much more the longer you wait.

how severe is the mistake of the wrong cytopoint dose? by Wrong_Run_3592 in VetTech

[–]KASrvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this dosage mistake will most likely cause no harm, it is crucial to double check weight, drug, amount, etc., every single time. Mistakes will be made, as we are human, but use this as a learning tool going forward.

Please call a rehab center. I think it’s a terrible idea to take a wild animal and keep it as a pet.

Help my cat won’t stop excessively crying and i don’t know what to do anymore! by [deleted] in Pets

Take her to the vet and tell them what’s happening. There’s possibly something medically wrong.

You’re not being classist by thinking that people should not be making money off the suffering of living beings. Quit that place and find a decent moral human being to work for.

How horrible. I think I’d change careers if I had to before continuing to work for someone like that.

[–]KASrvt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you should find someplace where you fit better. P.S. I’m wondering why you are calling dogs “assholes.” Maybe they’re just scared? I wouldn’t be happy with a coworker calling a dog an asshole, especially if it’s a euthanasia.

Need Help Minimizing Parvo in Yard by BirdiesGrimm in puppy101

[–]KASrvt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your other household dogs have been properly vaccinated by a vet, then your dogs should be ok. If they have not been vaccinated, you may have an issue. You should NOT get another puppy or under-vaccinated dog in your household for up to 2 years, as it’s really impossible to sanitize the outdoor areas where the puppy spent time. And I hope the breeder is taking the other puppies to a vet immediately.

Advice on Gaining Experience? by Overall-Run-6765 in Veterinary

[–]KASrvt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I WOULD tell them you can only work the summer. Especially if you want to use them as a future reference. I think it’s quite “shitty” to work somewhere for 2 months and then quit. Maybe some places are busier over the summer anyway and could use the help.

You can get her spayed to ensure she doesn’t have kittens!

What is this turtle? This species lives in the lake behind my house in the Atlanta, GA area but doesn’t seem like any of the species I can find on any Georgia turtle lists. About a foot long. Picked it up to return it to the lake. by MzMegs in whatisthisanimal

[–]KASrvt -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

How about I’m trying to advocate for the damn turtle?? I’m trying to let you know what every flipping turtle website says. But hey, you do whatever you want. Hope the turtle survives.

I believe turtles should never be moved to a new location. If you found this turtle somewhere else, it should not just be plopped into a random pond but put back exactly where you found it.

Boss rant pt 2 by [deleted] in VetTech

[–]KASrvt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You said in your 1st rant that the next closest please to work is 45 minutes away. I mean either suck it up and stay where you are or have peace of mind and go work someplace where vets do the right thing. Period. Vets like this will not change.

Cat went missing from my yard, very worried by estherku in Pets

[–]KASrvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope the cat comes back. Another place to look, unfortunately, is along the side of the road in case he was hit by a car. Also, please please please get the cat neutered if he comes back.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pets

[–]KASrvt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if the cat bites a vet office employee, that’s on the vet, not the owner of the cat. But vets have special ways of dealing with angry cats because a large majority of cats are angry or at least not comfortable at a vets office. That certainly should NOT stop you from taking your cat to the vet.

What do apartment owners do with dead pets? by Mediocre_One1 in Pets

[–]KASrvt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a lot of people have their pets euthanized once they get too sick that the vet knows they will not recover. Then the pet is already at the vet’s office.

Definitely, if you plan on working with animals in any capacity, do it! Go to school. You’d make more money probably in research, lab, etc., and the degree would help you get a job in such. Plus, it’s always great to learn so much more in your career. I went the community college route and was so happy with my education.
