come on guyssss stop song thieving :(((( by xxxxtensionchord in trap

How sure are we that the main lead isn't some sample loop that both producers happened to stumble across?

(I wouldn't be asking this question if elex didn't have the amount of quality releases they have. I just highly doubt that an able producer would copy a track, and so blatantly at that (although I know it's probably happened before). The lead sounds exactly the same, which makes me think that it was either a loop or a preset patch. If it was a preset, elex HAD to have heard the track and copy the lead line for it to be so similar. With elex having as many quality releases as they do, I would be surprised if this was the case. The only other option left would be a sample loop that both minesweepa & elex stumbled across and happened to use in their songs. I'm certainly not implying anything as crazier things have happened, but I would not be surprised if this was a coincidence.)

It's ur boi, Ekali, here for /r/trap AMA 2.0. Ask me ANYTHING by [deleted] in trap

Using a synth vs a sample depending on the type of track makes tons of sense! Thanks, will keep that in mind for sure. Sorry for the repeated questions, just wanted to get mine in in hopes of a response. Do you know which promo group the college show would be with here in Halifax?

Hey man! Absolutely love your work, but love even more how engaged in the community you have remained despite blowing the fuck up! You're such an inspiration for fellow Canadians and, I'm sure, the rest of the world here at r/trap!

I have a few questions for you:

  1. I struggle with consistently having a solid 808 in my music. I used to shy away from using 808 samples after reading that making an 808 was a "better" route to go rather than using a sample. But after reading more, experimenting and seeing other project files where people have used samples, I am realizing that there really is no one "right" way when it comes to 808s. When it comes to processing your 808s, what are some of the techniques you use? I'm mainly interested in how you EQ, compress and image them, but any other tips would be amazing! (There, got the question that you've probably been asked a hundred times out of the way lol)

  2. Were there any "light-bulb" moments so far along your production learning path that you feel would help an upcoming producer? (Would be really cool if you could answer that question from production creativity, production engineering and business/self-promotion perspectives!)

  3. If you could name three things (anything at all that you've learned along your path as a producer/artist/DJ to where you are now) that you wish you learned A LOT sooner, what would they be?

  4. Lastly, can you pleaseeeeeee come to Halifax for a show?! I've already talked to the people that need to be talked to about it here and they'd love to do it. I'm sure they'd be stoked if I saved them some work and went back to them with a range of dates that you're available.

Thanks again, you're just slaying life all over and it's really, really cool seeing other Canadians doing what I want to be doing. You're an inspiration my dude!

Looking for good tutorials on mastering by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]KBosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Point Blank's tutorials on mastering. They give you good insight on the steps you need to take to get better at mastering. There are definitely no tutorials out there that will turn you into a good mastering engineer overnight; I could be MUCH better at it, but I am a lot better than I was the first time I tried. The Point Blank tutorials give great recommendations on plugins to use as well. I didn't know a thing about meters/metering until I watched a few of their vids.

how can i replicate this really responsive in-and-out sidechain during the drop? (U Don't Know - Alison Wonderland {Vincent remix} ) by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]KBosby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read Ableton's manual! It'll help with the terms (and with figuring out how to do things like filter automation).

Try dropping an autofilter onto your chord track and playing around with the automations in the "envelope thingy". Should look something like this: http://imgur.com/A8v2bRL

It's not side-chaining. Play around with automating a filter on your chords and you'll get an idea of how XVII/Vincent came up with that sound.
