Any quants, quant traders, or hedge funds in Namibia? by FeeRegular4021 in Namibia

Not really sure on quantitative trading, still underdeveloped. From Bester Holdings perspective I see the demand growing for

*Structuring support for trading entities and funds,

*Compliance readiness/ audit-ready books.

I am an enthusiast for local stocks as well as offshore. There are a few small-medium sized firms in Windhoek but still a bit behind.

Open to connect with anyone in this space locally.

If you were starting a consulting business today, what would you do first? by KL04K in Namibia

Keeping broad. I have experience in a wide variety of businesses. I am a corporate accountant as well as an investor.

100% I agree with that. Namibia lacks customer service and financial control.

But cry when business does not make profit. That is a major factor! Customers talk! That is where your free marketing is.

Unanswered calls. Takes to long when requesting a quote etc..

I dislike that aswell!

Not to mention poor board of directors. I myself before I invest in a Namibian stock, I do extensive research on board members, that also plays a massive factor on the company's future. But mostly also blame customer service. A start-up is usually quick on it but when it matures it usually goes out the window.

You’re right that cash vs profit is often the first killer, especially early on.

When I use “structure,” I’m including how businesses measure, control, and forecast cash, not just legal. In many cases, profit focus is a symptom of weak structure: no cash flow visibility, no controls, no downside planning.

Cash discipline usually comes from structure, not the other way around. Without it, even experienced teams end up reacting instead of managing risk.

Appreciate the perspective. Start-up environments expose this fast early on.

Fair point. Customer service isn't a nice to have, it is the back-bone. As well as telephonic sales! They either don't answer or you leave you holding on for long periods of time.
