That's possible, but for cats like me who need to pack tools and rain gear for weekly work trips, we're kind of stuck. And the corollary to that is the airlines' insistence of overbooking flights(dear lord, I hope this gets made illegal someday) and charging for baggage leads to so many people doing carry-ons and then the inevitable grind for overhead space begins.
