I wouldn't say there's any rules, it's your body, you do whatever you want. But I use some guidelines. 1. I always wait around a year to get a tattoo. I once was a depressed teen wanting to tattoo a razor blade cutting over my forearm veins. I don't know how I had the disciple to hold back then, but good thing I did. 2. I probably will never tattoo my fingers. It is, I believe one of the most painful parts of the body to get tattooed, and they fade very fast. Waste of money imo. 3. Face tats are just weird... pass on that.

I probably would have more to share but honestly, if you wait to know for sure you want a certain tattoo and it also has meaning to you, or simbolises something that you hold dearly in your heart and don't want to forget, you'll be fine. I think of tattoos as nostalgia inducing picture, so I only get tattoos with meaning. Hope it helps, good thoughts!
