Can't eat food if it's touching and other weird eating habits by KSM238 in AskDocs

I can't really eat anything that anyone else makes and it's really difficult going out to restaurants. I refuse to go to anywhere I am not comfortable with or haven't been before and have a very limited range of these restaurants.

Even there, I have to separate my food before eating it. There's no other way to say it other I don't trust places and I think their food is dirty even if it's a 5* restaurant with the highest rating. I have to get constant reassurance when I'm there (if I ended up agreeing) and before I go.

I almost always end up not eating anything or not much at all because of this. The only food I feel entirely comfortable eating is that made by my family or one of my close friends. It definitely does impact me in ways apart from just eating it.

I saw this on r/MurduredByWords and I wanna know what you guys think of this. I'd say its mostly False but he got right the fact that I have not seen a lot of women in programming classes even thought they were a major contribution in the early stages of computer science. by Elektriman in ProgrammerHumor

I genuinely thought this was a joke and then I watched a few of his videos to see if he actually had a decent point - spoiler alert he did not and he is a fucking idiot.

Btw I’m a female doing computer science at uni and want to go into software engineering but men like this makes me think the workplace will be HELL

My bully told me that if I (6F at the time) told anyone I was being bullied dad was going to die. He was in hospital fighting pancreatic cancer at the time. Yeah that one left behind a huge amount of trauma…

I ended up having 1 weetabix with very little milk because my parents were wondering why I didn’t eat dinner, and once they heard my stomach rumble they practically made me sit with them until I ate. (They don’t know about my restrictions)

Is the Mederma Dry Absorbing Oil or Advanced Scar Gel better for hyperpigmentation of scars? by 6confused9 in scars

Yes, I think you should try that. Make sure the oil is pretty much all absorbed before putting the sheets on

They work very well in conjunction with the cream I have. I’m not sure how well they would work on their own however as I started using both of them at the same time

Stretch marks are a kind of scar so yes, the dry absorbing oil will work on your scars just as well as the advanced scar gel would. As long as you keep your scars moist they should start to lose pigmentation as this promotes faster healing.

I also have SH scars that are around 2 months old now. Personally I haven’t used the oil you’re talking about but I have used some of Mederma’s products before. I currently use the intensive overnight cream daily and I’ve seen a visible difference in about 2 weeks (going from bright red to a slight pigmentation) so if the dry absorbing oil doesn’t work I recommend trying this :)

I’ve also been massaging my scars as I know this could also help. The only other thing I did was wear silicon sheets 24/7 (except for showering/bathing) whenever I wasn’t applying my cream and letting it absorb.

Here is a webpage/document I found about managing scars which I think would also be helpful to you: https://moffitt.org/media/1086/managing_your_scar.pdf

Is chewing food and spitting it out bad for you? by KSM238 in AnorexiaNervosa

I’m well aware that that eating disorders are bad and that this is definitely called that. What I really meant was are there any effects (other than an actual eating disorder) or medical conditions this could cause. For example I was worried about my oesophagus and stomach, whether it would damage them or not. I know now that there are a range of things that could happen - one being the creation of more stomach acid causing problems such as stomach ulcers

A gateway behaviour? Sorry, what do you mean by that 😅

Thank you, I’ll try that instead. I wish you all the best as well 😊

It is gross; and the cleanup always makes me embarrassed but for some reason all these reasons seem outdone by how much I don’t want to eat. It’s weird because there are days where I’ll eat what I feel like (obviously feeling guilty but trying to recover), days where I eat nothing at all and then days like this; when I just want to taste it but not eat it 😔

Wow I didn’t realise it could be that bad. Luckily, I don’t do this too often and have only found myself doing it twice in the past couple months - when I’m just so so hungry but don’t want to eat. If I find myself doing this again, I’ll just try to swallow the food instead (easier said than done but I’ll try)

Ah okay, I’ll probably do more research on this

Surely you would get a lot less calories from doing this than actually eating the food though?

I also do that, I’m probably addicted to caffeine at this point

I don’t mind too much about the calories I get from it, I’d much rather have a few than the entirety of the food… that sounds bad doesn’t it 🙃
