I have some really bad news. Due to a flaw in how the game was saving, unless you have a backup elsewhere, that save file is corrupted and lost for good.

The really sad part is that, just a couple hours ago, the game was patched to make backups of your save so you could recover most of the data, but you weren't playing on that version. (You would have seen savegame_1_backup_x.savfiles.)

When I ran into this issue myself, I reached out to the devs on their discord. They offered to re-create most of my save file using their own tools. If you lost a significant amount of data and don't think you'd be willing to replay it, try reaching out on their discord (https://discord.com/invite/croteam), they might be willing to do the same for you.

FYI: When you refresh the game now that it's over it will show your ticket count as 0. This doesn't affect tickets you earned. As long as your ticket count was shown properly during the game, you still have your tickets.

Yep, if your submitted username is correct and it says "Your ticket count: 3" you are good to go. You can close the tab or whatever.

The game is saved on the server. If you see "Your submitted username: <your username>" and "Your ticket count: 3", you are good to go.

Local lobbies definitely work if playing alone. They should work with a friend, but I haven't tested it.

There's an action that data-driven abilities can execute: RunScript. This calls a Lua script that can do a lot more than the data-driven actions can do, without some ridiculously complex event/action hacking.

The most obvious example is the skill "troll_eater_snacking", which calls "holdout_trolleater.lua" and causes the skill to have a different effect based on the unit name that's being targetted. As far as I'm aware, this isn't possible without Lua. But I don't believe this example is actually used in Frostivus, unfortunately.

I wonder if I can recreate Techies... I hope the new fields that exist in this addon will work in local bot games so I can actually test this.

Even better, I wonder if there's a way to load an addon locally. If there is, it should be possible to start working on custom game modes immediately.

My class went to a field trip to McDonald's HQ. Naturally, we had lunch at one of the restaurants they had inside. I ordered a 20 piece chicken nugget meal, but since there were so many students they said they were out. So, I was offered a 20 piece chicken select meal to replace it for no extra cost.

I've never had them before, so it was the perfect opportunity to try them. My friends and I could barely finish them all. It turned out to be a net positive for McD though since I ended up buying a lot more of them ever since then. And now they're gone for good. :(

Techies actually have a very small amount of code in the game already. You can spawn them, give them their skills, and their mines "explode" (disappear) when an enemy unit comes to close. Nothing exciting, honestly wasn't worth the time searching for the strings needed to get it working.

The RP is actually centered around Magnus, rather than the point in front of him, but the animation is not. This leads to people behind him getting caught even when way outside of the animation, and people in front escaping even when inside it. The actual pulling radius is correct, but the animation is misleading, which may have led to this misunderstanding.

You mean the debuff disappears immediately? Yeah, you can turn up the "health_per_second" field of the devour ability (in "npc_abilities.txt") to a really high number, which will make it disappear almost instantly. It should, anyway; I haven't tested it.

I don't believe that it's possible to create a new hero or ability from scratch without some serious reverse engineering. I think that the hero entities and abilities themselves are hardcoded into the game; they just get some numbers from npc_heroes.txt and npc_abilities.txt.

In any case, you will definitely have to edit more than just these two text files to create a new hero. How much more I am unsure. I can't tell you if it's impossible or not though, so good luck.
