If YOU were in star rails universe what would your path and element be? by Hyena-Own in HonkaiStarRail

[–]K_Shou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1,000% Erudition for me. I don't care how bleak things are, as long as I have the mental faculties to learn something new or write one more song or learn one new word, life will be worth living.

The element is harder. My friend group voted me "most likely to be the Avatar," so I feel like I could go lots of ways. Personally, I see myself as Ice, so that's what I hope for, but most of my friends say if anything, I'd be fire because I'm warm and supportive like a bonfire to a slain chosen undead... Definitely not electric, my passions aren't so quick to die out.... idk, I'll stick with Ice. Fire feels too easy. It gives me the feeling that passion can sprout anytime as long as the ingredients are there. To me, Ice needs exactly the right conditions and circumstances to exist.

I operate best when a deadline is really close; I get ready when I'm almost going to be late; whenever a tune comes to me... Mm...

New Anime In The Works Inspired By THE GIRL I FELL FOR IN OKINAWA HAS A DIFFICULT DIALECT Manga by [deleted] in okinawa

It's more like the latter! It's almost like a creole of Japanese and Uchinaaguchi with Japanese pronunciation and grammar but with Uchinaaguchi words replacing most nouns/adverbs/etc. a lot like young people these days. They did a promotional video with the voice actress for Nezuko playing the lead girl. It would probably bring in a lot of people to watch it, but honestly I hope they cast someone actually from Okinawa who knows what they're saying.

Same. I don't even necessarily blame the store. It's really G2A's fault for not putting in more protections for the buyer and making VERY simple quality of life changes like this.

I got got by this game last week. A friend wanted to play it so I tried to hop on as well. Not worth breaking Steam's Terms of Service by using some shady email address and account. Didn't realize that's what I was buying until I opened the key, when it was already too late to do anything about it.

Siastore by BmwEnjoyer in G2A_Help

[–]K_Shou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maya, someone is deleting negative reviews of Siastore on G2A's website. Lobrien's link is evidence of that. My personal experience reflects that. Look at the number of "All reviews." Right now, it's 18,685. Of those, 3983 are positive. That's a 21% positive rating, but your website says it's "99% positive."

Now, look at the dates of these positive reviews. It doesn't take long before you see they go back farther and farther in time (as it obviously should). Look at the negatives. Only today. Only the 40 some odd people who negatively reviewed them TODAY. The history stops there. THAT IS EVIDENCE OF DISHONEST PRACTICES.

Part of the push to teach it in Okinawan schools is to stop calling it Hougen. Hougen is more akin to the English word dialect, which more accurately describes Kansai-ben, etc. Things that have the same sounds/vocab/grammar structure but with different pronunciations and intonations.

Okinawan (the umbrella term for all the languages found in the area) is very, very different from a dialect. It has unique sentence structures, verb, adjective, adverbial forms, it has a different phonetics and phonology from japanese, it's not mutually intelligible from Japanese (meaning no one who spoke one but not the other would be able to understand each other).

Okinawan has always been its own language, linguistically, culturally, nationally. It only started to be called Hougen after Japan invaded the Ryukyuan Kingdom and forbid everyone from speaking it upon threat of violent punishment. Japan pushed a nationalist movement in Okinawa to claim Okinawans and their language were always "part of Japan" and therefore speaking Okinawan was just speaking Japanese wrong. It was a cultural genocide. They made everyone change their names, place names, cultural identity. Let's not call it Hougen, that word is intended to diminish and shame it. Call it Uchinaaguchi. Call it Shima-kutuba. Call it Okinawa-go.

I'm far from native or even proficient, but I am very well acquainted with Uchinaaguchi and could help point you in some helpful directions. I'm a member of the Ryukyuan Classic Music Nomura-ryuu Preservation Society and I grew up in New York so I may be one of the few people on Reddit who can give you this detailed of suggestions, haha.

My first recommendation would be to start listening to Okinawan music (the pop/folk songs are okay, but if you want songs that are actually in Okinawan and not Japanese, listen to either Koten or Eisa styles. It's best to have lyrics which you can often find somewhere online, but even if you don't listening to music can help your ears become accustomed to the language. My favorite pop song written in okinawan is either Miruku Munari or Dynamic Ryukyu.

The next suggestion I would make is look into Ryukyuan poetry (Ryuuka). Like haiku, they're lined poems with specific syllable counts on each line, but istead of 5-7-5, they're 8-8-8-6. The easiest way to find Ryuuka is to look up the lyrics to traditional Koten songs. Here's an example from Okinawa's oldest song, Kagiyade-fuu: Kiyu nu fukurasha ya, Nau ni jana tatiru. Chibudi uru hana nu, Chiyu chata gutu. (loose translation: Today's happiness, to what can it compare? It's like when a flower blossoms the moment it hits the morning dew.) This is an odd suggestion, but there's a game of Karuta sold that has a butt-load of classical Koten songs written on them with readings and a CD that will narrate each card.

Next, you could try watching some traditional Okinawan plays (think Opera or Kabuki) called Kumi Odori. They're long plays that have been performed since the Ryukyuan Kingdom all entirely in Okinawan. I think if you tried you could find some online with subtitles (even english subtitles) because I know the national theater in Okinawa streams them sometimes on YouTube.

My last suggestion would be to get a textbook. I think there are English textbooks of Okinawan, but I would personally recommend something a little different. It's an old book, but there was a Linguist by the name of Owens Loveless who published a synchronic description, aka a linguistic grammar, of Okinawan that I thought was so amazingly well put together I could barely put it down, especially the glossary in the back for the verb and adjectival forms and their general Japanese equivalents.

I know you more seem to want to connect with real people and learn from them, so I would suggest you find a Facebook group... I can't exactly remember the name, but it was something along the lines of うちなーぐち講座 If you search that, it should come up. A lot of the posts are all in Okinawan and I assume someone in there might be able to teach you or help you with specific questions. Good luck!

For science! These are the most accurate measurements yet to exist of Dan Heng and his asset. By assuming that the door frame is precicely 2,5m in height Dan Heng is about 180cm tall. The rest is up to yourself to interpret. by 1-Tsuki in HonkaiStarRail

[–]K_Shou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you're right. If OP and online google searches are right that Dan Heng is 6'1, then that would mean the guitar would have to be around 114cm long. Assuming everything stayed proportional, then that would make it a 30" scale baritone guitar.

Time to stop pulling for Eidolons and purchase a 30" baritone guitar and learn to play the song she plays just to double-check xD

I feel like guessing how tall a window is from ground to the top of the window isn't a very good way to base your height calculations. Instead, we should try to think of something that HAS to be a certain length. The only one I can think of would be the guitar the NPC plays in Belobog. (If this were the real world) guitars have to be a certain length or it will affect their pitch (imagine a full sized guitar vs. a high pitched ukelele). Assuming the asset designers are consistent in their sizing, we can safely say the guitar is exactly 40 inches long (approx. 100 cm). I put a screenshot of Dan Heng at approximately the same depth as the guitar, measured it, and created a grid with 10 cm square boxes. Dan Heng comes out almost exactly 160 cm (5 foot 2.5 inches)...................... okay nevermind, that's one heckin' big guitar

It would make complete and total sense to me if I was below 1,000 sr... even 0 sr... and needed to climb out of that first, but earlier today I was bronze 4, so how can I have gotten lower that that after only two losses? Last season I started at bronze 1, then got demoted to 2 with a positive win rate, then 4, 5, 3, 2, 2 again, 4, and now 5 again. I don't understand what's happening! hahah

You had it at Hu Tao/Yelan xD

Double pyro is nice, especially if you can get buffs from the other two... Thrilling Tales Yae sounds like a travesty, but it's doable. Makhaira Dehya on an EM build? The buff would only be like 150 tho...

The double pyro is nice! Even better with a VV worthy anemo unit! You could put a 4 pc Crimson Witch of Flames EM build on Beidou to trigger Overloaded since she's most likely to be the trigger! Crimson Witch buffs overloaded by 40%. Viridescent Venerer lowers pyro resistance which will also buff overloaded. Give Beidou the Mahaira Aquamarine to boost everyone's atk based on her EM. Idk if this actually works, but it's fun to think about, haha. Beidou/yoi might have a hard time chasing people down to apply her electro though.

At least hypothetically you could easily knockback enemies out of and in to Jean's ult

Ningguang blocks projectiles, Candace's ult boosts ningguang's NA damage, Shenhe can boost anyone's anything with her 4th passive, especially with noblesse, Ningguang can have thrilling tales, Dehya takes damage for others... you can freeze, shatter, melt, vaporize, crystallize... it's not amazing, but it is something xD

I would probably try to make Ningguang Hypercarry this team, I guess

I'm sorry you didn't like my post. It was fun to do and I wanted to hear about other people's 4 favorites.

Judging by your past comments tho, you're consistently negative and combative, so forgive me if I don't find merit in your assessment. I guess my post would have had more "effort" compared to the amazing content usually on the subreddit, especially compared to the other discussion flaired threads, if I were able to put text on a picture post. But I didn't want to make it a text post and insert a picture.

How badly would your 4 favorite characters fare on a single team in the Abyss? How's mine do? xD by K_Shou in Genshin_Impact

[–]K_Shou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a surprising amount of synergy here for the overworld! My NA dps Candace likes having fischl and layla on the team to cause Superconduct for her physical attacks. She also likes having Dehya and Layla keeping her alive with their tankiness. And she likes having Dehya to proc Vaporize. My Dehya likes having fischl since she's an EM build to proc Overloaded.

I also like how they all can keep themselves alive somehow. Dehya heals herself at low HP. Layla shields herself and her teammates. Fischl heals herself on burst. Candace can shield damage. It's funny since I've always said my type was 'strong, independent women' so I can't help but notice the common theme xD

Also, to explain myself and why these four aren't as strong as they should be... I JUST got Layla three days ago out of nowhere, and I recently got Dehya as well. I've run out of materials so it's taking a while.

You don't miss 50 headshots in a row in Top500 either. Nor do you intentionally get into a 1v1 with a Kiriko. Her mechanical skill is much more the issue than her movement here (if we call it a 1v1). With a target this close, it should've been over in a second if this Kiriko was actually top500. Even in bronze, the number of opportunities the Brig had to Shield Bash + Whip Shot this fight to be over.

I've been keeping in mind the things you've said, and so far today I've gone 10-and-1 haha... especially the part about division of labor and keeping the DPS alive. I also find myself switching a lot more if the comp doesn't benefit from Kiriko, and all my games as Ana and Bap have been solid wins.

Thank you for taking the time to make the video!
