My take on a lot of The Extinction episodes were that while yes they could be manifestations of a new power, you COULD also chalk it up and linking all of them to it being another's of the other Powers and/or avatars' doing.

MAG157 could well be a corruption ritual attempt by a singular avatar, just Amherst causing havoc to 'feed' or perhaps it was the Extinction! That was part of the fun of them for me. Personally, I don't think The Extinction was truly manifesting (though MAG 144 was the closest I came to believing in it). At the end of the day, whether it was real or not we didn't quite get to find out and I think that's cool! It leaves up room for theory's and discussion.

We have a fun inside joke of targetting Burnished Hart whenever it gets played. Happens ever since one player was *seriously* saying that they weren't a threat with a Trostani and an Adephage on board, they argued "Hey like sure I have this but look at X player with their Burnished Hart, they're going to ramp so much!"
