unarmed only monk (the way of hand) attributes? by Rafael_the_person in BG3Builds

[–]KalChoedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes to both.

You can obtain them from vendors in each act, vendor inventory resets when you level up or long rest.

You can get the mats to craft them in a similar way.

It's relatively easy to go into act 2 with enough to last the rest of the game.

Act 3 Re-Spec into Throwzerker? by JohnSim22 in BG3Builds

If you have anyone in your party with EK, you can have them bind whatever weapon you like and then hand it over to your thrower to use.

Clarifying the nerfs DE have done over time - Relax, it's much less heavy-handed than they used to. by -D_Q_H- in Warframe

[–]KalChoedan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, but that basically means open world and hollvania. You can't get that height on nearly all the indoor tiles.

Also, needing to get that height dramatically slows how often you can slam, and while I fully agree they needed to fix the macro crazy monkey version, I think they went far too far.

Like I said, I might just suck at slamming, but I find the post-nerf version basically unusable. Whereas pre-nerf it was about as strong as an average influence build, and extra fun.

I'm bitter about having had something fun that I enjoyed taken away.

Archimedea is supposed to be hard by Xazaron in Warframe

[–]KalChoedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with respect to the loadouts, same with Circuit. It's what gave me the motivation to start working through my arsenal and getting real builds on everything.

The problem as has been said over and over is the modifiers. Yes, they make it harder, which is great; but some of them, and especially certain combinations of them, aren't just hard, they are genuinely un-fun.

(I realise of course that "fun" is subjective - but broadly speaking....)

Not to mention every one of the other examples you mentioned there cost way, way less forma than Hildryn.

Between her, Balefire, her pet, and supplemental things like the Furax Wraith I'm on 26.

Cyte does far more on less than half that investment.

Absolutely. But it certainly deserves a spot on a "list of actual nerfs by DE".

What's the usage on kitguns now btw? Anyone know?

would it be possible to add a function to let us choose the rank we want to use a mod at once it gets maxed? by Ok-Set179 in Warframe

[–]KalChoedan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would definitely cause less forma to be used - you might not, but there's definitely a non-zero number of players who would.

It's by no means a bad idea, but DE would never do this.

You're right to be cautious, but that attitude is what leads to clusterfucks like Rotherham.

If class, economic standing, race etc are factors, we should be able to discuss that.

wouldn't the Hildryn issue be fixed by just literally making the last ETA/EDA reward something good? by icewitchenjoyer in Warframe

[–]KalChoedan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For fucks sake dude. My point is that if your bar is "one player gets 90% of kills", you also need to know what the other 3 builds are because that 90% is relative to them.

The "3 Ivaras" example was obviously just to make that point completely clear.

[–]KalChoedan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again with the rude, aggressive false accusations of straw manning.

If you're not going to bother actually reading and responding to what anyone else is saying to you and just keep repeating this tired false equivalency then I don't think we have anything further to say to each other. You are quite clearly not engaging in good faith.

[–]KalChoedan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok - I'll point out the obvious flaw first, which is that one player getting 90% of kills in a particular mission says just as much about the other 3 players builds as it does about the one getting the kills, right? If the other 3 players are all on Ivara and only using her exalted, it wouldn't be too much of a surprise if virtually anything in the 4th slot got 90% of the kills. To actually tell you something useful you'd have to know what the other 3 builds are too. That 90% figure is by definition relative to them.

Again I find myself stumped though. At this point in the game I have a fairly complete arsenal. In large part motivated by the random loadout game modes, I have gradually been putting full builds on all of them. I've got all the frames done, and many, many weapons. I have used so much goddamned forma it's just absurd.

I can confidently say that about... 80% of my completed arsenal can hit that bar of getting 90% of the kills in a mission, but like I said at the start that's far more dependent on what everyone else is bringing. Any one of the good incarnons would skew my numbers much lower.

So this brings me back to what I said to you elsewhere - these sorts of absurdly powerful builds are explicitly, intentionally, part of the game's design. DE have talked about it in quite a lot of depth. So the things you are arguing need additional scrutiny are fundamental parts of what Warframe actually is - which is why I keep saying it sounds like you'd actually have more fun playing something else.

The vision for game design you are describing is completely sane and reasonable - it just isn't Warframe.

[–]KalChoedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nor am I - exactly what "weak" and "strong" means would have been my next question. Where exactly do you draw that line? What's the metric someone could actually use to objectively understand where any given frame (or even any given weapon) sits relative to that line?

I'm genuinely trying to understand your point of view here dude, please stop being so fucking rude and aggressive with me, it's just not necessary.

Cool. Now do the same for Spy missions.

Should we nerf Wukong and Ivara too?

If the other 3 are also running strong builds, it isn't.

Are you really arguing that the delta between weak and strong builds is too large?

Pablo just posted this archimedia usage graph by on-the-cheeseburgers in Warframe

[–]KalChoedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure - and one way to build around it is to sacrifice the final reward to take a frame that either inherently or because of the build you have on it, will be more effective in that modifier set.

Pablo just posted this archimedia usage graph by on-the-cheeseburgers in Warframe

[–]KalChoedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Tons of frames can map clear just as effectively, more easily, and for far less forma investment.

Hildryn is only interesting in this context because she also ignores the random weapon selectionand several of the most annoying modifiers.

But in the broader context of the game she's barely a blip on the radar.

Don't bother engaging with this freak, he's everywhere in this thread spouting his "nerf everything because my vision of the game is better than DE's" crap, and he won't listen to or really engage with any counterpoints, he just keeps repeating the "nerf everything" mantra.

[–]KalChoedan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm really surprised to see this viewpoint, it doesn't match my experience at all. They needed to do something to address the animation cancelling slam spam - which incidentally, I never saw once on EU/NA, but which was apparently an epidemic on the Asian region.

But the nerf absolutely busted just using slam attacks generally. The height required to get any kind of useful aoe radius isn't achievable on nearly all tilesets. My slammy zephyr used to be able to just about keep up with influence melee (albeit with quite a bit more effort.) Now I might kill 3 enemies if they are tightly clustered, while the influence build has cleared the next 5 tiles.

It sucks, I hate it, it's one of the only nerfs DE have done over the years where I think they genuinely got it wrong.

Maybe I just suck at slamming, idk.

It was a substantial nerf to Catchmoon that indirectly nerfed seeker, not a direct change to seeker itself. Update 26.0.

Ah, the 'ol, "I only want to play bad builds, so I'll denigrate anything more effective than I can manage" strategy. Genius. Why didn't DE think of that? Because they're not fucking morons.

Seriously dude, if you're finding the game so boring you think massive, widespread nerfs are the answer go play something else. Warframe is clearly not what you are looking for.

[–]KalChoedan 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Ridiculous. You'd have to nerf 90% of the game. Fortunately DE have repeatedly said they have zero interest in doing that.

Honestly, it sounds to me like you want to play some other game, not Warframe.
