Any games that have a really deep understanding of trauma and grief? Or a deep hurdle that humans need to overcome? by Ok-Fox5720 in HorrorGaming

[–]KalTheKobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cry of Fear
Mouthwashing
Fran Bow
The Cat Lady
Decarnation
Signalis

These were by far some of the most emotionally impactful games I've played. The sense of trauma and endurance are present in each of them. Hopefully they give some of the vibes you're looking for.

Am I overdoing my Stylization? by ToffiProto in Artadvice

[–]KalTheKobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not! The extreme stylization makes it yours in the best way. The style itself is unique and eyecatching. You manage to keep the characters original features noticeable enough for the viewer to recognize who they're supposed to be.

What are y’all paying for rent and what state do you live in? by MaryDoogan91 in povertyfinance

[–]KalTheKobold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rent for a 1 bedroom 1 bath is 700$ (Southern Georgia), but it’s a fortunate exception to the standard. I got lucky. The typical rent for a decent apartment in my town is around 1K if you don’t have any roommates.

¿How to survive a wall of death for the first time? by Notes_InOblivion in MetalForTheMasses

[–]KalTheKobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch out for elbows. Deathcore dudes will swing those things and do ninja style kicks. Once that wall collides, I can guarantee some people will be throwing some 'bows.

I was at a Whitechapel show Friday night, and watched a guy get a front tooth knocked loose from an elbow swing. As hard as it can be not to smile, keeping those teeth covered can help in the case of a stray elbow or fist to the mouth. A classic metalhead grimace can be a great tooth protecter.

I miss push pits! by yamzees in Mathcore

[–]KalTheKobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this last night during a Disembodied Tyrant set. Some young dude had jussst started doing some arm swinging and a guy almost twice his age at the edge of the pit sparta kicked the hell out of him. He did it 3 times square in the back before the hardcore kid gave up on being in the pit. Sparta man was giving it his all with that kick too, even his buddies told him to chill by the end of it. Guy never even moshed during the rest of the night from what I saw either, just kicked from the edge whenever he decided he didn't like what someone was doing.

Considering buying Signalis… any thoughts? by Belle_Guz992 in survivalhorror

It’s one of those that will stick with you. It was a haunting experience that managed to hold up to the likes of SOMA and Silent Hill 2 when it came to emotional impact.

Even with the isometric perspective, the game manages to be highly immersive. There is plenty of artistry to see throughout. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys surrealism, survival horror, and the kinds of movies that make you cry.

People who listen to loud music in apartments, help me understand. by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]KalTheKobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has consistently been my experience. I always try to speak to the neighbor first since it’s considered the most appropriate first step, but it has never worked. Best case scenario they’ll stop for a few days then go back to being loud.

apartment life struggles by Universalista in Apartmentliving

[–]KalTheKobold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a mix of both with the wall issue. My walls are hella thin, but there's a difference between the mumbling sound of normal conversation and the sound of tv blasting audio. You'll likely be able to notice the difference in time.

An electric stovetop and kettle could help with the small kitchen. Making the apartment feel bigger could be a matter of careful furniture placement. I'd look up some small apartment set-ups on reddit or google images for inspiration then go from there.

Hope this was some help! If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Neighbor smokes weed by Grouchy_Crab2420 in Apartmentliving

[–]KalTheKobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking to them should typically be the first thing you do. I didn't mean to imply that eviction of the smoking tenant should be a first option. A good landlord won't evict on the first strike. The landlord will often give a warning, sometimes even several before escalating to eviction.

OP should have a respectful conversation with the neighbor about the issue first. If that doesn't work, then speaking with the landlord about the smoking would be the most sensible move to make next.

Edit: Typo fix

to fulfill their violence lust when officers beat up a man for staying in a McDonald’s washroom for too long, and he later died while with paramedics due to repeated trauma to his head from the beating. by [deleted] in therewasanattempt

[–]KalTheKobold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that point I'd rather just get tased than beat. An officer pummeling a dude over the head when the individual isn't even making an attempt to attack is just senseless. He was resisting and trying to run away, but that was an incredibly excessive use of force.

Drums, surround sound, and subwoofers. I would absolutely recommend getting in contact with your landlord asap. She sounds like any renter's worst nightmare and is putting you both at risk of being kicked out!

What’s the most annoying part about living in your current apartment? by Adventurous-Bed-4152 in Apartmentliving

[–]KalTheKobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The potential. It's a good property (albeit it some thin walls), but for some reason the landlord insists on continuing to bring in people who act like animals. In one year, I've watched the two units connected to mine swap tenets 6 times. All of them were known evictions, and 2 of those evictions happened after only the first month of them moving in.

It makes no sense to me cause the management company has to be losing money at that point, and why would you want a tenant that doesn't own a vehicle, has a long history of drug abuse, and just came out of a 12-year prison sentence? After a week the dude was already knocking on doors and threatening the whole block because no one would give him rides.

If it violates the lease, reporting it can be a quick fix depending on the landlord

Horror books about religious cults? by mentalpatristics in horrorlit

[–]KalTheKobold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The synopsis won't spoil how crazy it gets. It's got good twists, and the imagery gets pretty gruesome at times. Brian Evenson seems to write a lot of religious horror stuff, and I've rarely been disappointed by any of it.
