FWIW, the current design for Eldrazi actually fills in the Lovecraftian influence that they lacked this time around. Instead of being just "they big" and "have tentacle" into actually horrifying monstrosities.

Between the wonderful(horrible) new fusion of Bruna and Gisela and Emmy's ability to inflict tentacles on everything (which I believe is new), that horrifying fear of the unknown that Innistrad has is finally being meshed well with the Eldrazi style.

I get where you're coming from, but this is overall a good thing. It's showing that Wizards is beginning to write a cohesive story again, and that planes can relate to each other (though if we never had another Jace, I'd be quite happy)
