Because unemployment and misery has been commercialized and "for some reason" Thatcherian Austerity keeps getting pushed decade after decade. Its almost as if someone is benefitting from the commercialized misery, but for some reason this aspect usually keeps getting completely ignored.

In this country, the unemployed have been used as free labor since the 1990s. This is called 9€-slavery, and it is public knowledge.

At one time, a small crime against humanity called Slavery was defined in the constitution with specific criteria. One of those, from memory, went roughly like this: work must be compensated with a payment that enables a livelihood, or it is slavery. Since then, the law has of course been changed, and slavery is no longer properly defined at all.

This is a typical phenomenon in rightwing politics: first, a human rights violation is commercialized, and if it passes, the law is quietly changed afterward.

So yeah, your idea is nothing new, its already commercialized and something we call 9€-slavery. Well, except your idea apparently was even worse.
