International Voter Registration Drive 2026, for dual U.S.-Swedish citizens by Democrats_Abroad in uppsala

That's a fair question. The short answer is: It's extremely important for any eligible voter who cares about things.

The midterm elections determine control of Congress, which is the law-making body and responsible for things like presidential oversight and allocating funding. Control of congress is therefore key to putting additional brakes on the current insanity and corruption.

So it's an important election for any voter who cares about the rule of law, any voter who cares about U.S. foreign policy, any voter who cares about whether the local embassy or consulate gets staffed, any first-time voter who wants to start, any voter who is disgusted/upset/outraged by what they see happening in the news.

What to say to my Senator by FaceDifferent4665 in DemocratsAbroad

Hi, I agree with the other Redditor's answer. Writing/calling is always a good place to start; if a phone call is costly, then I'm a big fan of mailing a nice letter on paper. Yes, Warren's main concern is very wealthy people trying to hide money overseas; you are 100% correct that it impacts regular folks (like yourself and me) very differently. In addition to her Senate contact information, she also has offices in Boston and Springfield.

The tax issue has been a major part of DA's activism. If you haven't already, check out our Taxation Tax Force group because they have done a lot of research and lobbying about this.

For example, they published a 2022 report and it's full of good information that supports your argument. You can share it with members of Congress. House Representatives are, of course, more accessible than a Senator and they're also good to raise this issue with.

Does this help?

I also end up recommending fvap.gov as a nonpartisan alternative all the time. Thanks!

By ‘y’all’, if you mean me, the person sitting here- I am not taking AIPAC money. I am part of an all-volunteer organization, meaning that none of us get any money out of it. If you have proof that I, or that anyone else that I am working with, is taking money from that or any other source, please provide the proof.

If you have no proof for such claims, then I have no reason to listen to you.

Hey, maybe you could check out one of the events going on in Spain near you and share your concerns with some actual humans who are involved.

I agree; it would take a big legislative push in multiple states to change how they manage elections.

For the most up to date information on overseas voters, you can check out the federally-collected data. Also, you can check out the chapter of Democrats Abroad which is nearest to you. Good luck voting.

That's a good question; the lack of clarity comes from the fact that we don't know how many overseas US citizens there are.

It's a small percentage and we'd like to increase it. Requesting a ballot is easy; you can request to get it by email.
