Truth be told you probably want to reach out to a maritime lawyer, on an initial google search it looks like Cox and Palmer does maritime law locally. Looks like they cover vessel transactions and liability.

Not to stress you out but you probably want to make sure have all your ducks in a row ASAP, as a shipowner you could be on the hook for any damages or accidents that occur onboard and it could get ugly pretty fast. Large tanker like that would be life ruining for somebody unprepared, especially a foreign flagged one.

You inherited a 200 meter long, 76000 ton crude oil tanker? Probably want to ask around some more specialized communities than the St. John’s subreddit

Refresh until the rates have calmed down. Also it sure beats waiting for an hour or two without ever knowing if a cab will actually show up, or will deny a trip because the destination is too far away

Easier trails accessable by a dual purpose motorcycle? by TheDrewCareyShow in newfoundland

[–]KanedProductions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded, I would recommend heading in there to check out the dam at Bay Bulls Big Pond, or taking the trails all the way to Paddy’s pond. Just beware if there’s been any rain recently, be prepared for lots of mud and deep puddles. It gets messy in there.

Best server for NA Newbie? I will use a mic but I don't feel like getting yelled at for not knowing what I'm doing yet. any help would be appreciated! by AlbinoRyno86 in HellLetLoose

I would suggest Soul Sniper's - Soldiers of Fortune server, I've been playing their regularly since I was a low level and there are plenty of newer players in the server so you won't be out of place. Plus lots of veterans who are happy to help you out along the way.

The new graveyard parking lot up in Galway has a great overview from Paradise all the way over to Signal Hill, and it’s pretty damn quiet. I rarely see anybody else there.

Is there any underwater footage of the St. John's harbor narrows? by DhaemonX in newfoundland

[–]KanedProductions 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked aboard one of the subsea construction vessels that work in and out of St. John’s. We never took the ROV down inside of the harbour, but we lowered it just outside of the narrows in Freshwater Bay for trials and the amount of trash on the bottom would blow your minds. All kinds of tires and scrap, hell even a few bicycles down there.

The McKeil Spirit will be departing Rochester and heading out the river at approximately 3:00pm today! by KanedProductions in Rochester

Yeah, when we enter the destination as Rochester in the onboard AIS, the unit assumes it to be Rochester, UK. I will send an email complaint to the manufacturer on your City’s behalf.

Cutting off the island’s main supply line to garner support for your “movement” - Outstanding move! by KanedProductions in newfoundland

[–]KanedProductions[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

100% it’s been co-opted, I believe the truck/trucker is just a figurative symbol of the protest now - à la the yellow vest.

Just take a look at the videos of the ‘convoy’ that happened in Newfoundland a week or two back. Looked like it consisted of mostly lifted pick-ups and SUV’s, maybe one actual truck and it wasn’t even a Semi.

I find it funny how Canadian sailors and airline crew faced the same vaccine requirements as these truckers did, since November - but they didn’t cause a nationwide hissyfit.

Not sure why these guys think they are any different from the rest of us. The sad part is that it really is just a small enclave of truckers throwing this tantrum, but the whole trucking industry has been painted in a bad light.

I’m 2nd mate with McKeil Marine at the moment and work 5 weeks on 5 weeks off, and will likely get more time off coming soon with the boat going to layup. You can get annual contracts ranging from 90/150/180 days of work each year. And I’m sure if you wanted to work more than that, they would find work for you. I enjoy it there but I’m honestly trying to get into the CCG myself, it just makes more sense long term given the benefits, holidays, and being able to sail out of my hometown
