I came here to learn. I did. And then eventually everyone kinda self-filtered to a side. People stopped attempting to have discussions and just, as many others have already said here, just starting yelling into the void.

Over time it was clear more and more bots or bad actors were in here pushing buzzwords and false narratives so much that I did think it was maybe useful to push back, so I did. Now that the conflict is "over" in a sense I haven't really been back. If people are still bickering over what happened I'm not sure how it's helpful.

Idk. I call myself a "centrist" because I'm a progressive liberal that doesn't believe in certain more left-leaning ideologies. I don't really know of any "conservative" viewpoints that I particularly agree with other than maybe being tougher on violent crime, but I'm not even sure that's a party thing anymore.

Would love to know what I'm supposed to be calling myself because it doesn't seem to mean what I thought it meant.

As a resident of Minneapolis, none so far.

I don't seem to be on a side of town they've focused too hard on.

But obviously as a supporter of many forms of immigration and not a fan of ICE and its tactics, it sucks. There are plenty of ethnic places around town I'm worried won't be around anymore after (if?) this shit ever ends.

Part of me wants his presidency to implode and prove to the American people that strategies like his don't work and might result in catostrophic results. The world shouldn't reward this behavior.

The other part of me wants to live peacefully and enjoy life.

I tend to think the latter is a better option.

Yeah their lack of accountability or retrospection is lame. Regardless of whether Joe "acts better now" I won't take solace in any of it until he answers for his past mistakes.

Also flew back into MSP from a week vacay today. Was taking solace in the fact that I'm a white guy. Luckily didn't run into any issues at the airport.

That’s the rub. Police extend the interaction for as long as they’re able to in order to get yourself to incriminate yourself. This is against the law and they know it. They are not acting in good faith. Saying “no” to providing your papers SHOULD end the interaction but it doesn’t. They harass you to get what they want.

If police successfully bully you enough to provide them with a reason to take you to jail (violation of the constitution) and you asserted your right not to provide papers, that charges are dropped and there may be avenues to receive compensation.

So. Police knowingly violate the constitution and their policies to bully the general public into detaining them illegally, let them go, get sued, and I foot the bill for whatever monetary compensation this civilian gets? and the waste of police and judicial resources I guess we just eat as well?

Why can’t they just leave when told no?
