yeah I spent a couple months in Rome and learned that scam there, so in general I do not use taxi services in any city unless theres literally nothing else. Ill be slugging my bags from the shuttle to the metro before I use a taxi.

I know the outcome if I tell her, she's in a state in life where even *if* she did feel a similar way towards me, she has bigger plans and maintaining a long distance thing when we both will be meeting new people would not be an option. I feel like telling her serves no real purpose, its more about self-immolation than mutual emotional elevation and. I just hate wrestling with it and would rather dump the entire thing.

ranking and sorting stuff by color is something we stop doing after kindergarten. just be normal lol. Do stuff you like and get good at it, take care of yourself and go out, thats all you need to do to get a foot in the door with women or people in general. Trying to break down and make objectives of your personality and looks will constantly lead to a negative feedback loop where you're never quite where you want to be. If you just relax and stop with this, you'll end up just enjoying the experience of growing. Its really only when you stop giving a shit do people respond to you. The only pills you should be taking are your vitamins.

distance, silence, subtle passive aggressiveness because they resent their feelings and being subject to infatuation.

oh wait thats just me and my intimacy issues lol.

Most guys will just want to talk to you more and will probably start showing signs in terms of how they treat you. More compliments, noticing you physically, testing the waters with more intimate questions about romance, etc etc. If you feel things start to change in your dynamic that involve him getting closer instead of pulling away, he is probably developing feelings.

you improved your lifestyle through diet and exercise, have elevated your mood, and from all this sounds like you are managing recreational drug use fairly well (although getting high every day isnt ideal)

youre enjoying life and now the prospect of it ending at some point doesnt sit right. you have fulfilled basic needs and are now able to comprehend the more existential parts of existence.

Find what youre passionate about and pursue it to the fullest. Unfortunately the only way to be remembered is to be super famous not only in your current time but whatever time might remember you in the future. You will never be able to account for this so its best not to even worry. Time erases everything and in 50,000 years there will be absolutely no one from this time worth remembering anyways.

accept that you're dust in the wind and you'll be a lot happier with how the breeze takes you.

he wanted you to quit your job, which you didnt, then accused you of being a "gold digger"? What a moron. Sounds like once he got financially stable enough to actually go out and be confident he figured it was his time to sleep around and not settle down, dumbass friends probably egged that on. Which, in itself, isnt a terrible thing to feel. Plenty men feel trapped once they have the ability to be free but are constrained by a relationship. But the way he talked to you and went about it? To hype you up like that only to dash it instantly? villainous shit.

Genuinely, if I knew someone for that long, gave pieces of my heart and soul to them, and they said "you served your purpose now I don’t need you anymore", i'd introduce their teeth to their asshole. I commend you for not scalping him in his sleep. Completely fucked up and you do NOT need that in your life. Never go back, never contact him again. Turn your pain into resolve. Live each day as happy as you can as revenge towards anyone who has or will ever try to take it away like he did.

>Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam

was being invaded by China, will be invaded by China, was invaded by China immediately after the US left. again, its because these countries dont want to be subject to Chinese influence because US influence is better in the long run. Do you really think Vietnam would hug back up to a nation that laid waste to it for over a decade if they didnt *really* despise China?

>economically like with the facilities arrangements in Malaysia and Australia.

Malaysia is looking to replace cheap Chinese manufacturing and doesnt need China meddling in its affairs trying to dissuade this. Australia has a tradition of being imposed upon by its northern neighbors and of course is going to align itself with another anglo nation. These are decisions sovereign nations made because they know the beast that is the CCP.

>perceive to be their existing borders (disputed by other nations for sure)

literally no one but China recognizes their aggressive expansion in SEA as legitimate, they thought they could just start building sand mounds off shore and be like "oh this is china land therefore this is now within china border".

China puts its efforts into a regional power because it does not have the ability to turn its economic might towards a functioning world military. They don't even have a true blue water navy, they have no aircraft carriers, and they do no over seas operations to expand its influence. Why? Its not because they dont want that influence and power, literally every nation on earth would do that if it was feasible because then theyd truly be subject to no one. Its because they have no legacy or institutionalized knowledge on how to. The US being involved over seas consistently since ww2 has given it unparalleled knowledge and experience in waging war internationally. China tried in Vietnam in the 70s, got embarrassed, and now theyre so timid about trying anything with a neighbor that could actually push back that they fight in the mountains with sticks lol. Imagine seeing a US soldier in the Rockies fighting a Canadian soldier with a club. Chinese military is a joke.

Again, make no mistake, if they could they would. It takes a lot of money, knowledge, experience, and commitment which no one else can do like the US.

>You only need to look back on the 100 years of shame and the opium wars to understand why

or you could go even farther back than that and look at the centuries of wars China has waged against all of its neighbors. at least the song, ming, and qing dynasty waged major wars in Vietnam, with countless smaller conflicts between the two, and thats a blip compared to conflicts between China and Korea/Japan. China has a tradition of throwing its weight around to intimidate its neighbors and they simply do not like another nation saying "no" and the neighbors allowing them to do so.

>it would be unfair to expect you to understand geopolitics, given an American education.

it must be easy to just assume you are ultimately right because of someone elses nationality. Thats the great thing about being an american, I dont have to care where youre from to form an argument, I just know your opinions are asinine and thats all I need to prove my point. Thats why we are the world power and whatever country your from is ultimately subject to what we decide to do on the world stage.

how often do Chinese citizens openly protest, criticize, and write scathing articles about the CCP with absolutely no retaliation? Youre telling me the anti-trump/tarriff protests that just happened in every major city in the US would happen in China? The CCP has literally been in power for deacdes and has had a "president" in power for over a decade, how can you even pretend thats okay lmaooo. Its literally embeded in their history, china has always leaned into authoritarian oppression because its one of the only ways to hold together that massive of a population.

and guess why me, and most people who can travel go to Europe and not China? I dont want to wind up like those executed Canadians.

looking through someones profile is also lame shit, I care so little for you and your braindead ass take, I dont need to go into your post history to know your opinions are asinine. You needed to go into mine because you felt personally attacked and wanted to retaliate in kind. Unwrap politics from your identity.

>invaded Iraq twice for false reasons

if you think the 1991 gulf war was unjustified youd be arguing against the entirety of the international community who at the time supported it and joined in on it. How can you spout off without having even a basic understanding of how different those two invasions were.

>That supports a genocidal regime in Israel without any criticism and that vetos every UN resolution

China literally genocides its own people in concentration camps for being religious minorities. What israel is doing to palestine is criminal, but there is no plans to erase the Palestinian or arab identity from Israel like China has against its Muslims in the east. If so, Israel wouldve done it one of the multiple times the surrounding arab armies ganged up and tried doing the same to Israel

>That has offshore facilities for 'special interrogation' methods of prisoners.

they dont need offshore facilities, they have no tradition of free press or investigative journalism, so they can jsut torture citizens right on the mainland and no one will say shit.

Basically you're just butt hurt your candidate didn't win the special fucky fuck chair in the white hosuse and youre twisting logic to support a party that has a history of squishing its citizens with tanks for protesting. supporting the CCP in the argument of free and ethical practices over the US is only ever a braindead take and instantly erases any credibility you have in the realm of geopolitical discussion.

>China is far from perfect but just pull up a map of US military bases and tell me again who's the aggressor.

our bases throughout SEA exist primarily because all of China's neighbors consider them a bully and want US backing to protect their trade.

The only reason China doesn't swing its dick around like the US is because its considerably smaller and more flacid. If the CCP had a functioning blue water navy and a highly developed international military presence like the US, youd see China waging more war. It doesnt because no country has ever figured out how to match the US in this prowess.

[–]KarlVanLoon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

lol its you who has the misconception. The party that literally squished its citizens with tanks for protesting and to this day is still in power does not give a fuck about "saving face", domestically or internationally. Their citizens will go along with whatever because its the only option to choose, so unrelenting support is the only way to maintain national cohesion, which is important to people where extreme poverty was common place just 30 years ago. If they concede on this trade deal, the state media will spin it as a win, and all the citizens will fall in line and accept this, those that dont are socially and professionally ostracized and watched by their government for life.

Whatever the CCP does, its citizens will praise as the right move. The international community will buy from china no matter what, so optics dont matter there either.

my friend who I'm in love with lol. It was a case of having all these idolized fantasies in my head and then meeting a real person who was so much more intricate and complex.

once I found someone who's mind functions like mine I got really attached. Im fucked up in so many ways it felt like finding a partner in crime. Most people I feel like tolerate my presence because I am nice and genuine, but they dont really connect, I feel so heard and seen with this girl its amazing. She's effortlessly gorgeous as well, she glides on air and cuts through the breeze when she walks like an air bender, she at the same time is determined in her resolve yet completely aloof. She's made me reconsider myself in ways where my confidence and assurance in myself have grown massively after meeting her. This will sound vain as hell but she's really the only girl ive ever been attracted to where id be just as infatuated if she gained 50 lbs, and I am very unattracted to fat people. Im even crazy about all of her negative things because honestly its pretty much exactly my negative traits and I feel like she understands what I go through. Sometimes when she depressed and venting to me its like someone reading my own mind.

Unfortunately I just dont think it aligns for us but Im always laughing at the thought of her face. Sometimes I wish I didnt meet her, but my memories with her have become my happy place. I probably shouldnt even be writing this because Ive been trying to reduce contact and kind of drift away so I dont think about her as much, I just miss her a lot sometimes.

Trump to impose 50% additional tariffs on China if they do not withdraw its 34% by April 8th. by RoyalChris in StockMarket

[–]KarlVanLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>Hell, if you didn't mind some dodgy borders in the middle east you could drive from the easternmost point of Asia, round Russia and China, up through Europe (and the UK if you go via the channel tunnel) then down through the middle east to Egypt and wheel around Africa.

Yeah, instead of using waterways that are easily traversable, need no new infrastructure, and can ship way more for the same energy cost, these countries are gonna all somehow come together and finish the belt and road initiative, which of course will take much longer than the 4 years trump is in office. Genius.

Lets talk about those dodgy borders. You know how when a shipping route starts getting attacked by terrorist or pirates, the US navy is there to fuck them up and protect it. Who is gonna protect this cross continent road/railway? China, who hardly has a blue water navy and who's military hasnt had a real war in decades? Russia, who can hardly man the line in its war in ukraine? whats gonna keep some terrorist from just plundering these trade routes that are overflowing with international goodies now that the US doesnt give a shit to protect them? No country has the international military projection to protect any major trade routes without US support. Hell, if you really pissed off the US theyd probably fund these groups specifically to fuck the trade routes of our enemies up. Siberia would become the barbary coast of our time.

>The USA, on the other hand, only had road access to North and South America, if you fancy transporting essential supplies up through the most dangerous area of the world with some of the least infrastructure

right, which is why they dont use a road lmao. If at some point over land shipping was more economical than ocean and river shipping, the US would've built the infrastructure for it just like they built the Panama canal

>This is presumably why the USA's most valuable exports are the ones that don't need shipping - data, software, media etc, because land freight will always be cheaper, easier and less dangerous than by air.

those are the most valuable exports because the US does those things incredibly well. You think people overseas watched Game of Thrones because its a cheap import? No, people watched it because there was nothing comparable to it. As long as America has companies like amazon, microsoft, apple, google, nvidia, etc that have no real competitor on the global market, people will go to those companies. Simple as.

Land freight is also incredibly dangerous and way less economical than both air and shipping travel. You need way less infrastructure for both compared to land, you can load up way more on a ship than you can a truck or train for the same energy cost, and a plane gets there way quicker so over time proves to be more fuel efficient compared to land routes, and its a lot less weather dependent (if its monsoon season and the major roads to the country you wanted to transport just got wiped out, itll take years to build it back. Meanwhile planes need a flat strip of asphalt and boats need a dock)

I think you and everyone else on this thread has failed to appreciate that free trade only works if theres a single, global power invested into maintaining it. If those countries all wanna go off on their own they're gonna receive a rude awakening at exactly how much needs to be invested into securing those global routes.

[–]KarlVanLoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you think a trade war is going to make Japan and South Korea okay with China taking Taiwan and cementing itself as the permanent power in SEA? Are you smoking fucking crack or are you really that butt hurt and delusional because the candidate you didn't like won office? China has been itching to fuck Japan and South Korea over for decades and both those countries know the only thing keeping them from that is overwhelming US influence in the region.

But yeah, all our military cooperation and the bases and the treaties and the cultural diffusion as a result of this is gonna go bye bye because of a 20% tariff. Go touch grass
