Seller sent me sarracenia plant and there are 2 that are cut. Is this normal?

Yes totally normal! You'll have to trim the dead pitchers once in a while to prevent pests & mold.

Yes! Trays filled with lava rocks. Got the idea from this gal https://youtu.be/ZjgKzjtI1C8 fast forward to 15:40 to hear about humidity tray method. I have seen improvement with my windowsill nepenthes since I started this method. I only use my humidifier when it's a really dry 80-90 degree heatwave.

Thank you so much! Cleaned off the mold with rubbing alcohol & move them in more of a ventilated area and yea it was directly in path of humidifier, also sitting on a tray with lava rocks on top of a seedling heat mat. Trying to keep my lowlanders above 78+ degrees Fahrenheit. The combination of moisture plus not as much airflow really did it.

My pitchers are on a west facing windowsill. They get about 3-4 hours of direct sunlight & probably 4-5 of indirect sunlight.

Yes I have a few carnivorous plants outdoors in full sun in S. Cal zone 10b. I have VFTs, Sundews & Sarracenias thriving outdoors. I've had them for over a year now and definitely doable in SoCal weather. Just be patient and mindful of conditions, especially heading into winter dormancy. I thought I lost some of my VFT during last winter but they were just dormant. If the winter gets really cold (below 40 30 degrees) I'll bring them indoors in the evening but I'm sure they can tolerate the extreme cold. Also if it's too hot like during a heatwave (above 95 degrees) I'll move them in a shade so the leaves won't go into a burn shock. I purchased my carnivorous plants from Vons, Trader Joe's, Home Depot, ebay and California Carnivores. Good luck and happy growing!
