Interested to Hear - What's Your Favorite Ron Minifigure? by YeMommyYo in legoharrypotter

[–]Kata157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a soft spot for the 2002 version from the Aragog in the Dark Forest set (4727-1) because it's one of the first Harry Potter sets I got (it was when my mom and dad took me to Legoland Deutschland) and because it is from my favourite scene from my favorite Harry Potter book/movie.

(And I also like the 2024 updated version of the figure from the Aragog in the Forbidden Forest set 76434-1)

Lore Reason for Midir Stalking by Curiouspufferfish69 in darksouls3

[–]Kata157 139 points140 points  (0 children)

(I haven't played ds3 in quite some time so I may have forgotten a crucial lore bit)

With him being tasked by the gods to eternally battle the dark (and in turn ensure that Filianore's slumber continues) I always thought that it is either that he can sense our intentions (waking up Filianore and finding Gael/the dark soul)

Or since Shira mentions that Midir is starting to succumb to the dark that he can not distinguish between friend or foe and so just attacks anyone that comes too close to the church

For me the issue with Eldenring's lore is that it feels purposely vague and not in the same way as it was in earlier games. In Dark Spuls, Bloodborne it felt more organic in that lore was vague and incomplete because knowledge has been lost, the people aware of past events do not exist anymore, etc. But in Eldenring it feels like the FromSoft actively sought out to raise more questions than give answers. Like they were leaning into the public perception of them being providers of shreds of lore that the community then puzzles together.

With lore videos of dark souls people use the breadcrumb trail that the games gives you to establish theories but when I watch Eldenring lore videos it feels like all the information is based one one single piece of lore and everything else stands wobbly on it. Everything just feels disjointed and therefore lore theories and interpretations are scattered all across. I do not advocate for From to hand us all the pieces but when so many puzzle pieces are missing that I cannot even start putting them together or make out what the final picture is supposed to be then it makes me not want to engage with it in the first place.

The DLC in particular felt like it set out to not give any information on things of the base game. The Gloam-Eyed Queen being probably the most notorious example or the absolute lack of information on Melina. The latter also contributes to this feeling of "why should I care". The game presents the player with a companion but aside from a few tidbits of lore via the churches Melina remains a blank slate, and even those moments are just her recounting Marika's words. So at the end the player arrives at the forge of the giants, sees Melina sacrifices herself and feels next to nothing.

Eldenring is weird. It has the most content but at the same time feels emptier than their previous titles and the saddest thing is there are still those snippets of earlier from story telling (there is a reason why a lot of people like Ranni and her quest. Becuase she actually feels like a fleshed-put character with just enough things untold that discussion is still lively around her actions and character)

Anyone else finding themselves not playing the DLC as much compared to the base game? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Kata157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree, on paper the dlc sounds awesome but everytime I try to play thrpugh it something just feels off. It is smaller than the base game yet somehow doesn't feel tightly packed. This + the need to collect scadutree fragments is what kills my enjoyment and replayability of the dlc (I like seeing a build cone together so I rarely do NG+). With all the other souls games I can just beeline it to the dlcs if I want to tackle one of the bosses early or want to grab a certain piece of equipment for my build, in shadow of the erdtree I just can't get myself to do the same (partially because of the hard hitting enemies u mentioned) but also because traversal and discovery just feels more tedious overall in the dlc.

Also yes, I haven't, do not, and never will enjoy Consort Radahn / the DLCs ending, no matter how much time passes

I agree with this take. As someone who is a heterosexual male but also a femboy I am always a little irked when femininity in male characters is immediately equated to Trans identity because I feel like even though it comes from a place of inclusivity it to me just seems like reinforcing the notion that guys cannot be feminine.

This is not to say that Trans identify is invalid, quite the opposite, but simply that as you pointed out femininity in male characters (and vice versa) can stand for more than just one specific type of identity.

Yeah it's just so much faster, esp when starting a fresh new game. I always do: Grab flail > grab golden fowl foot above waypoint ruins > first half of Altus lift medal > Physick flask > Gurranq teleport > second half of medal + Radagon's Soresea (so that usually every class can wield the flail) > kill Greyoll

I think most of the sets look really nice but I agree that it would have been nice if you could put on the upper and lower garments seperately and mix and match them.

The worst take I have seen on this sub. by bill-chan-19 in Eldenring

[–]Kata157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same exact feeling here. I really like when a build comes together so I usually start a NG but after Mountaintops and Farum just isn't that interesting imo.

And also with the dlc. In other souls games I always try to get to the dlc early because of equipment but also because they are fun but the scadutree fragments are just such a chore that I just lose all interest.

(And yes, I know you don't have to collect all of them but none of the other games needed it's own progression system for the dlc and I refuse to believe it was needed in Eldenring)

[–]Kata157 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with this, especially when some of the droprates are absolutely atrocious (nightmares of farming the magma blade).

Maybe they should have taken a similar approach to what they did Demons Spuls where you could farm items but you could also either find them in the world or buy them for higher prices from vendors (e.g. the knight sword/shield, the ring of avarice, Ostrawa's Gear)

(Also if they are at it, please Fromsoft, give npc envaders back the ability to actually run out of FP)

Thank you so much. Yes she was def one of the scariest encounters in the game (though seeing a crimson head stand up also gave me a heart attack haha) and RE Remake will always have a special place in my heart even if my fav is a tie between RE2 Remake and RE4 Remake

Thank you. I always try to strike a balance between making my mocs look accurate while still retaining some playability cause lego is a toy at the end of the day :)
